Eleanor 🎀

There's a knock on the door. I wasn't expecting anyone, so I don't know who would be here at this time. I open the door and see Conrad standing outside with something in his hand. A smile spreads across my face, one I can't seem to control.

"Hey. Happy almost Halloween," Conrad says.

"Conrad," is all I can manage to say.

"I know I'm not supposed to be here, but I'm here," Conrad says as I shut the door behind me and step outside. "I brought candy. Do you want me to go?"

"No, I fucking don't. Stay, please," I say, pulling him into a tight hug. "But what are you doing here?"

"I wanted to see you," he says, breaking away from the hug slightly. "Ellie, I don't think I could ever get over you," Conrad confesses. "Whenever I talk to you, I'm just happy. And I gotta say, standing in front of you right now, it's torture not being able to kiss you."

As the words slip out of his mouth, I can't hold back any longer. My mouth rushes to his, meeting in a kiss that feels like it's been a lifetime in the making. The kiss is everything we've both been wanting but never had the courage to admit. The world seems to fade away as we stand there, wrapped up in each other, finally giving in to the feelings we've been holding back for so long.

I walk inside with Aaron's arm wrapped around me. "Hey, Miss Park, I'm so sorry she's drunk, and it's all my fault," Aaron says as he places me next to my mom. "Shall I take her to her room?" he asks her.

"Yes, please, Aaron, and it's okay. Just thank you for bringing my daughter home safely. I don't know where she would have been if you weren't in her life. She loves you very much," my mom says. He helps me into bed, takes my makeup off, and tucks me in.

"Night, Ella," Aaron says as he kisses my forehead. "Make sure to drink plenty of water." He walks out of my room and shuts the door behind him. I close my eyes, but all I can think about is the fact that my own sister was the one Jeremiah left me for. I grab my phone and look at the pictures of me and Susannah. I knew I'd lose Susannah eventually. I just didn't know I'd end up losing everyone. In my memory, all of us will always be entwined, always and forever. There can't be one without the others, and now we're all falling apart from one another. I put my phone down and close my eyes.

My phone starts ringing. I look to see who it is: JEREMIAH. I cut the call off, but he rings again. I hang up, and he rings again. This time, I answer it. "What do you fucking want from me?" I say to him.

"Are you with Conrad?" he asks me.

"No, why?" I ask him.

"Conrad's gone," Jeremiah says.

"What do you mean, gone?" I ask, concern flooding my voice.

"He's not answering my texts or picking up my calls," he says.

"Wait, let me try and ring him," I say as I hang up the phone. I call Conrad, and he answers. "Hey, Connie," I say, tears streaming down my face.

"What's wrong, Ellie?" he says. Everything. Jeremiah cheated on me with my sister.

"Where are you?" I ask him.

"I have to go," he says and hangs up the phone. Jeremiah rings me again.

"So, what did he say?" he asks.

"He just told me he had to go, but he didn't tell me where he is," I reply.

"I'm gonna go to Brown in the morning and see if I can track him down. Want to come with, Nemo?" Jeremiah says.

"First of all, don't call me that, and second of all, I'm only going for the sake of Conrad, not you. You don't mean anything to me. Not anymore," I say to him harshly. I know I'll never get Susannah back, but I can't let Conrad go too.
