Chapter 20: Ages and Legends

Rae takes a deep breath as she begins to awaken from her slumber. She feels groggy, no matter how much sleep she gets it never feels like enough. And her body feels like it's been set in cement overnight. "Mhmm... AHh '' as Rae's eyes begin to focus, she gets startled. It was none other than Misty's ash gray tiger striped face staring down at her. "MISTY! I almost flung you onto the ceiling." Rae says in her surprise wondering why the feline decided to stare down at her like a scientist looking through a microscope.

Misty doesn't seem all that bothered by Rae's outburst. If anything she stares at her for a few more seconds before backing away and sits on the bed to lick her paw. Rae sits up running her hand through her hair entangling her fingers in the coils. Looking over at Misty who just stares back at her head cocked to the side. To her it seemed like the feline was asking ' you got a problem?' Rae, frustrated, untangles her fingers. Only then does she stop to realize that Evealyn is no longer in bed.

It occurs to her that it's strange that Misty is the only one she sees. Seeing as Evealyn never bothered to wake her up, she wonders if she might still be upset about last night. Rae wonders if she's still upset about last night. "Do you think I messed up?" Rae asked Misty.

Rae hears this growl and thinks she hears ' I don't know why you're asking me. But what do you think?' Not really feeling great about that. "What should I do to make it up to her?" Rae questions and Misty tilts her head.

Mwero~

"Jeez thanks." Rae says, feeling like Misty might be snarking her. Misty stands up and sashays off the bed. Her tail swaying high in the air as she walks with great pride to the door. Rae hears it open and looks over. However she only sees Misty walking out.

Rae sighs, not sure what to do with this. Stepping out of bed and placing on her slippers, Rae stares at the door, she has a sinking feeling that things are about to become rigid between her and Evealyn. With a click of the door in the latch Rae was gone like a wisp of smoke and back at her own room.

After washing up and heading down stairs she sees Evealyn sitting at the dining table quietly sipping a cup of tea while stroking Misty's back in her lap. Rae couldn't help but feel nervous as she walked over to the table. "Did you sleep well last night?" Rae asks Evealyn who quietly eats her acai bowl. "Okay, so I'm guessing you're still upset then." Rae says, again not getting a response.

"Did you fight or something?" Dylan asks, watching this interaction not sure what exactly is going on between the two.

"No, not really." Rae says, unsure herself. Kinda wishing that were the case. Then she wouldn't feel so terrible

"Are you sure, because Evealyn seems-" Dylan gets cut off be Evealyn

" We didn't fight Dylan, it's complicated." Evealyn says, as she sighs, putting her spoon down. "I'm not in the mood to talk about it."

Dylan looked between her and Rae and guessed it was a girl thing between the two. "I can never understand these things. Dylan says while shaking his head.

Although Evealyn doesn't forgive Rae for keeping such a secret from her. She remembers in her grandmother's letter it said that she's supposed to trust her and Dylan. The thing is how was she supposed to get their help if she can't even tell them what's going on. Evealyn feels conflicted wondering if there's something in the library that could help. "Rae?"

Rae looks up hopeful seeing that Evealyn had addressed her. "Since the meridian is off limits it should be okay if we go to the library right?" Evealyn asks, Rae wasn't expecting that. She kind of hoped she'd ask her to talk about last night but feels that it's good she's even talking to her at all.
