Write a story - We love to cut you down to size

*

Mrs. Jenkins had always been a bit on the heavy side. She never quite fit in with the other moms at the school PTA meetings, and she always felt like she was being judged. But despite the constant criticism from her peers, she always held her head high and tried her best to ignore their jabs and snickers.

One day, as she was walking home from the grocery store with her arms full of bags, she heard a car pull up behind her. She turned around to see a group of teenage boys hanging out of the windows, laughing and pointing at her.

"Hey, fat lady! Can't you walk any faster?" one of them shouted.

Mrs. Jenkins felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment and shame. She tried to quicken her pace, but the bags were heavy and her feet were sore. The boys continued to jeer and taunt her, calling her names and making fun of her weight.

As she approached her house, Mrs. Jenkins heard the boys yell out one final insult before driving off. She set down her bags and leaned against the wall, tears streaming down her face. She felt worthless and ashamed, and she couldn't shake the feeling that everyone was laughing at her behind her back.

Over the next few days, Mrs. Jenkins became increasingly withdrawn and isolated. She stopped going to the grocery store and the PTA meetings, and she spent most of her time alone in her house. She couldn't bear the thought of facing the cruel comments and snickers of the people in her community.

One day, as she was sitting alone in her living room, Mrs. Jenkins heard a knock at the door. She hesitated for a moment before getting up to answer it. When she opened the door, she was surprised to see her neighbour, Mrs. Thompson, standing on the other side.

"Hi, Mrs. Jenkins," Mrs. Thompson said with a smile. "I just wanted to stop by and see how you're doing."

Mrs. Jenkins felt a wave of gratitude wash over her. She had always admired Mrs. Thompson's kind heart and gentle spirit, and she was grateful for her company in this dark time.

The two women sat down at the kitchen table and talked for hours. Mrs. Thompson listened patiently as Mrs. Jenkins poured out her heart and shared her deepest fears and insecurities. And as she spoke, Mrs. Jenkins felt a weight lifting off her shoulders.

Over the next few weeks, Mrs. Jenkins began to open up to the other members of her community. She joined a local fitness group and started exercising regularly, and she began attending the PTA meetings again. And as she did, she found that the people who had once taunted and teased her began to treat her with a newfound respect and admiration.

It wasn't long before Mrs. Jenkins realized that the people who had once cut her down to size were the ones who were truly small. They were small in their minds and small in their hearts, and their cruel comments and jabs were a reflection of their own insecurities and fears.

As she stood tall and proud, Mrs. Jenkins realized that she didn't need anyone's approval or validation. She was strong and capable, and she was worthy of love and respect simply because she existed.

And with that realization, she knew that she would never let anyone cut her down to size again.
