Lucy had always known that she was the last of her family. She had grown up hearing stories about her ancestors, their triumphs and tragedies, their loves and losses. But now, as she stood on the stage of the dilapidated theatre that had been her family's legacy for generations, Lucy felt a sense of finality that she had never experienced before.
The theatre was in shambles, the seats torn and the curtains tattered. But Lucy had vowed to save it, to bring it back to its former glory and honour her family's legacy.
As she rehearsed for the play that would mark the theatre's grand reopening, Lucy felt a sense of purpose that had been missing from her life. She had always been the black sheep of her family, the one who didn't quite fit in with their high society ways. But now, as she stood in the spotlight, she knew that she was exactly where she was meant to be.
But fate had other plans.
During the opening night performance, something went horribly wrong. The stage set collapsed, and Lucy was trapped underneath it. The audience gasped in horror as the stagehands rushed to free her, but it was too late.
The last thing Lucy saw was the faces of the stagehands as they caught her, just before she died.
As her family's legacy crumbled around her, Lucy realized that she had been wrong. It wasn't the theatre that was important or even her family's legacy. It was the people who had supported her, who had believed in her, who had caught her when she fell.
And now, as Lucy's body was carried out of the theatre, it seemed that even they had failed her.
"The last of her family. Looks like the furniture will be gone before the two weeks after all," the theatre manager muttered to himself as he surveyed the wreckage.
The last line of this unwritten novel would be:
"The stagehands caught her as she died."
