Day 90

For a few months, they stayed inside that house. Initially it seemed like an ordinary shoddy vacation. They knew that the fear for their lives was real and in addition, the lack of resources and money was increasingly real.

Talking to the family on the phone was not enough and nothing told them that they could maintain communication for much longer. It was time to go back. Matteo didn't know if that was a good idea, regardless of his homesickness. No one knew what could be on the other side of the border.

Henry had made a very impulsive decision and on top of that, he had been so resilient and stubborn about it all. However, Henry did not think he was hasty, in his head, he was very correct. Just like Theo, he didn't know what to expect but he knew he would fight to the end against the threat he faced every day.

In reality, every day was torture. Outside those walls there were still family members and insecurity haunted them, everyone was fine until they weren't.

- It doesn't fit like that! Stop being stubborn, Vincent! - Vinnie sighed when he heard his friend complain. With the hassle of getting everything ready to go and the fact that Amelie was the only one truly responsible, patience had run out some time ago. The nerves were general and took over each of them completely. Vincent, to top it all off, was not an organized person, much less a patient one.

Vincent took the bags out of the trunk of the car, it had been more than 10 minutes since she started to complain about the arrangement of the bags. Her friend's whining made her brain tired. He put them back in place, more carefully this time.

-And now, happy? -He asked, huffing after putting the bags in the places Amelie had indicated.

-No, these two are missing. - She handed him two more suitcases. He wiped the sweat from his forehead, releasing more air from his lungs. The heat in the garage was unbearable and the face mask they had to wear outside to protect themselves at least a little bit made it even hotter.

-There's no more space! - Vincent made a greater effort to pack everything in its right place. - Is all this necessary?

-No one knows what is needed during the end of the world. - She linked arms, while playing with dissatisfaction. Vinnie gave a cynical smile and continued his work. Maybe Amelie would rethink what she said later, during the trip. The only thing really needed was to get out of there as quickly as possible and come up with a competent plan for what to do when they reached their destination.

No one had any idea what they might encounter on the way, what obstacles would stand in their way. If the theories formed by them before preparing to leave were true, they had almost no information about what was actually waiting for them in the outside world.
