The night was already dark, clouds covered the sky and everyone covered themselves with the sofa blankets found in the blonde-haired twins' house. Henry now became the group's night driver. They decided not to turn on the hot air to save fuel, however, the dew was felt and the weather was cold outside.
Fortunately, the temperatures were still easy to bear and a thin terciopel blanket was enough for a great and comfortable protector. The deserted road seemed peaceful and therefore, they had not seen a single person walking along the tarmac. The street lights were still on, with the exception of a few, which failed and slowly added some terror to the road.
Henry kept his eyes wide open, alert to possible obstacles that could appear, his girlfriend had been asleep for some time but Luna was wide awake. Ethan and Theo, in turn, talked moderately so they could keep Henry awake and focused on the road but never wake Amelie, after all, everyone knew that she was too tired to last any longer without sleeping.
She was a slightly sensitive person and that kind of event left her very down. Things got heavy when they thought about facing reality as it truly was. They pretended the problems weren't there and ran away whenever they could, even though they knew they would never get rid of the problems.
-HENRY, FUCK! - Matteo shouted roaring, seeing his friend turn into the wrong lane. - What is that?
-I DON'T KNOW! - Something was moving in the dark but the car's headlights were not enough for them to see what was on the road, the movement was clear, something fast was running in the trees that surrounded the road.
-Either you speed up or stop the car, it's either run away or see what's happening. - Ethan made a very correct observation of the activity that surrounded them, whatever it was, they couldn't just ignore it. None of the animals in the area seemed to have that movement, a bear could be fast but it didn't seem to be one, a fox, much less so.
Henry found the clutch and tried to accelerate away from anything supernatural or dangerous, however, he felt the car slip out of his hands. Ethan quickly grabbed the steering wheel and turned the steering, reorienting the car onto the road.
A flash of light appeared in front of them, which made Henry brake quickly, intimidated by not being able to see the road or even being able to fully understand what was in front of them.
-Calm down... - Vincent's brother whispered to Luna by his side, Amelie woke up in shock, disoriented by all the sudden movements made while driving. Luna felt a heavy energy around them, as if rocks were raining on their heads.
Henry stopped the car and locked the doors, making sure they wouldn't be attacked without first seeing what was surrounding them, they felt watched, surrounded. It was evident that even if they didn't see what was hiding in the trees, the thing in question could see them.
