"Cmon, Ivan! It's about to start!"Alfred's joyful shout echoes throughout the house as he closes the door. Ivan chuckles, slipping on his scarf before calling back,
"In a moment, Fredka!"
He can hear Alfred grumbling about how long he's taking, but he can almost see the grin on his face from here. On his way out of the house, he grabs a bouquet of sunflowers, with a red, white and blue wrapping.
He shuts the door silently, watching as Alfred has his back turned to him. He taps him on the shoulder, giving Alfred a start.
"Jesus! Don't scare me like that, Vanya."
Alfred admonishes, though he can't help the smile creeping up his face. Ivan scoffs, before taking his hand away from his back and handing Alfred the flowers.
"Oh, Ivan. They're beautiful.."
Alfred coos, in awe of the present. Ivan thanks him, pressing a quick kiss to his lips. Of course, before they can do anything further, they hear the states shout from outside.
"It's starting! Come, let's go!"
Ivan hurries, quickly picking Alfred up into a bridal carry. Alfred gives a shout of surprise, not able to stop the raging blush on his face as he hides his head in the flowers.
Eventually, they make it outside. When Ivan sets Alfred back down, they both begin to walk to the hillside where the fireworks will begin.
They meet many states on the way there, Alfred hugging and greeting every one of them, while thanking them for the birthday wishes.
It begins to look quite strange, with 50 teens following behind two adults all dressed in a multitude of red, white and blue themed clothing. Although today, no one paid it any mind, as they all were doing the exact same thing.
Settling down on blankets, and watching the darkening sky, Alfred leans his head on Ivan's shoulder as they hold hands.
"Sunflower?"
The sound is hissing is heard over the cheers of all the Americans present, human or not.
"Ivan?"
The stars are able to be seen now.
"Happy birthday."
Their embrace is illuminated by the vibrant sky, cheers and screams of joy as the fireworks explode behind them.
-
Happy fourth of July, everyone.
