Nothing is Permanent, Nor Safe

(y/n) POV

I was with Saya, Takashi, Kohta, and other survivors. Saya was talking to the other survivors as I just stood there silently while it rained outside.

Saya: How many times do I have to tell you this to get you to understand? Killing pandemic? That's complete bullshit. The government is using it as an excuse for failing to figure out why dead bodies have been attacking people.

Survivor 1: You're saying you believe all these people are actually dead? Don't be ridiculous. It has to be some kind of disease, some kind of infection.

Survivor 2: That's right, there's no way this can be happening without a reason.

Saya: Well of course there's a reason, but none of us around here are going to find it out. Unless by some chance you're a Pulitzer prize-winning research scientist with access to a lab. And even if you are, you think any of us have time to wait until your research is completed?

Survivor 2: Well-That's just-

Saya: We have to concentrate on surviving, that's all, try not to get eaten. I can't believe this mob's incompetence. Did you not listen to a word my father said?

Survivor 2: *gasps before grinning* I see. That's the point you really want to make, isn't it? I was wondering why high school kids were flashing guns like they were cops-

(y/n): *cuts her off* I suggest you shut the hell up. The old world is gone and the only way you're going to survive is to kill. Now, you are right in one aspect of this, this probably is caused by a disease, but Saya is also right, they are dead corpses. And, let me give you a little information, it doesn't matter how you die, getting bitten, shot, or stabbed, if your brain isn't destroyed, you'll become a walking corpse.

Survivor 2: But-

(y/n): And before you even try mentioning that violence bullshit you're about to spout off, *draws out his black Cutlass and levels it to the survivor's head* I'll show you what real violence is.

Survivor 2: *flinches back in fear*

(y/n): *holsters his pistol* Now, I suggest you try to keep your heads and not cause a riot because it's going to kill more people before it causes even an ounce of change. The entire world has been dealing with the walking dead, we're not the only ones. There are no laws anymore, no rules, all that matters is survival. It's either kill or be killed, that's all that matters.

Survivor 2: How dare you-

(y/n): *grabs her shirt and pulls her up to his height, glaring at her with his piercing (e/c) eyes* How about I take you and leave you on the other side of the wall with a knife? How long do you think it will take for you to grow a pair of balls and actually kill one of the undead? Or, how long it will take before you are eaten up by the undead and turned into a walking corpse?

I let go of her shirt before walking off, annoyed. Saya, Kohta, and Takashi followed after me.

Saya: Jesus (y/n), but, I guess you made my point.

(y/n): I know what it's like to walk that thin line between life and death more than those idiots.

Takashi: But, you are right (y/n).

We reached the front door of the manor.

Kohta: But, I can kind of understand how they feel.

(y/n): Sometimes, people will ignore things that they don't want to see, especially when everything is falling apart. They won't do anything, even when something is happening, because they don't want such a rapid change, it's just human nature. The first and second stages of grief, denial and anger, apply here too. People don't want to believe that dead bodies are rising up from the ground, they deny it, and when people are trying to help them and impose rules, they lash out in anger.
