(y/n) POV
28 Weeks Later
I woke up in the morning with a small yawn. These past few months have been surprisingly calm and tranquil for us. The prison has been working incredibly well for us and we have a system set up for food and water. Turns out, we're on top of an underground aquifer and the prison already had pipes in place for the aquifer so water wasn't an issue. We were also growing our own food and I was also hunting and bringing game back for everyone, mainly using a crossbow. Anyway, I got out of bed and stretched a little. After getting ready, I got out of bed and walked out of my cell. I was always the first awake and dawn was just breaking. I walked out of the prison, doing my normal perimeter check before breakfast. I was walking around the perimeter fence and it was quiet outside, quieter than usual anyway. I reached the area where the zombies liked to pile up and found just a pile of dead, unmoving bodies. Weird. I pulled out one of my Desert Eagles and decided to check the bodies.
I whistled to see if there was any reaction, but there was none. I ran around, got to the front gate, and quickly ran back to the pile of bodies. I checked and found that none of them had a bullet hole in them nor any blows to the skull or stab wounds. It's like they dropped dead. I looked around the dead bodies and saw that there was what looked to be dark brown to black bile around them. Wait a minute, did they die due to starvation? There's an ending to this apocalypse but similar to 28 Days Later. I started laughing a little as I stood up and put my pistol away.
Fenrir: (y/n), you're going to have to go home today.
(y/n): I figured, but at least I'll be leaving and everyone will be safe, that's all that matters to me.
Fenrir: True.
I walked back and finished my perimeter check before heading back into the prison, I smile on my lips as I walked back in. I walked downstairs and joined everyone but everyone seemed to notice the smile on my face.
Rei: What's got you all happy (y/n)?
(y/n): So, as I was doing my usual checks in the morning, I found a pile of undead at the spot where they usually pile up.
Takashi: Really? And you're sure they're dead.
(y/n): Oh yeah.
Saeko: Did someone kill them?
(y/n): No. No bullet or stab wounds and no blows to the head.
Yuriko: Then what killed them?
(y/n): Starvation.
Saya: *gasps* Are you saying-
(y/n): That since most of the population of the world is dead, then that means that the undead aren't getting food and are thus, starving.
Rika: Oh my god.
Shizuka: You're saying that-
(y/n): This apocalypse has an end and we're at it.
Everyone celebrated, happy that they made it.
(y/n): Sadly, I have to leave you guys today.
Rei: You have to go home?
(y/n): Yeah.
Alice: What are you talking about?
(y/n): You'll maybe understand when you're older.
Alice: Oh.
Saya: We understand (y/n).
Shizuka: You can't stay here forever, you need to go home, we understand.
