There he was the first ever victor from District 10. She loved in his games he manipulated everyone in the arena into thinking they're allies but ended up killing them. But she hated how cocky and rude he was to other people in district 10, he thinks he's the only person in the world. Which she thought was hilarious.
"Hello, my fellow tributes. Do you guys know where the alcohol is?" Elias asked. This is what she means by that he only thinks for himself and everyone else around him is thrash. Mara pointed to another door since Leo was still in the room and he shouldn't see a drunk person right at this time.
She turned her head around hearing faint sounds of sobs. When she did she saw Leo cuddled up on the couch crying. Mara walked over to the crying boy.
"Leo, are you okay?" She asked. But she already knew he wasn't. Then he wouldn't be crying if he was okay. She sat next to him when he replied with a no and she did something she didn't usually do to random people. She hugged Leo.
She had to get out of that arena alive. But this kid was so young and had such a big future ahead of him. He should have a chance to make it out too. But what would her mom think when she dies in that disgusting arena would she be mad at her or would she be crying her eyes out knowing she lost her husband and daughter. Her mom would have nobody left.
"Leo, I'm going to protect you. You're making it out and seeing your family again. Okay?" She told Leo the little kid looked up to Mara, his eyes filled with tears that made her heart break.
"But then you would die." The little boy said. Mara shrugged. She didn't care if it meant this kid could survive and have a wife and kids in his future. He deserved it.
Mara thought of a way to make this kid stop crying. She thought of her mom's terrified face when she got picked. Family. "Hey little one, do you have any siblings?" The older girl asked. He needed to have at least one family member in his life. Right?
The little boy looked up at her again, his eyes a little dryer than before. "My mom has a baby in her stomach. I heard that the baby was kicking my mommy. I also have a dad and brother. My brother is 9 years old." He smiled thinking of his family. She heard the door open so she whispered in his ear.
"You'll be okay, Leo, I promise."
She heard the voice of Daisy scolding someone. When she looked over it was her screaming at Elias. Mara had to stop herself from laughing. But Leo could not stop laughing.
But Elias did not look happy when he saw Leo laughing at him. "You." Leo looked at him. "What are you laughing at? Huh? I mean I can just not help you get out of that arena." when he said that Mara fumed. He couldn't talk to a little kid like that. Right?
"You can't talk to us like that. We're only just kids. He's only 12. I mean you can't just walk around like you make everyone's Decisions around here." Elias just shrugged at her but in his mind she was a fierce tribute which could make her win. So he was happy that he got her. The other one was trash to him. She stormed off to her bedroom. Leo going to his bedroom as well

When she walked in her bedroom all she could think about was how luxurious it looked. She walked over to the closet in the corner and it had a bunch of clothes she grabbed a set of pink pj's. When she walked into the warm shower she melted. It felt so relieving all her thoughts flew away and all she focused on was the shower she was in right at this moment.
She spent God knows how long in that shower. She spent it looking at all the cool things you could do in it like there were a bunch of scents. When she got out of the shower, hair dryers and a bunch of other dryers. After she was dry she got called to eat dinner.
I walked into the room. Everybody turned to Mara when She walked in. The dinner was very Awkward. You could tell there was tension between them from a mile away. Not everybody is just between Maura and Elias. She didn't apologize to him and she wasn't planning on it either. Maura and Leo stuffed their faces with all the delicious food right in front of them.
When all of them have finished their Food. "Let's watch the reapings. From the other Districts." Daisy told them. They were still on the train. And let's just say most of the tributes were an easy kill. But they were just a few that caught her eye. District four and ten. They looked about the same age as her. Those would probably be good allies, she thought.
She was exhausted from the terrible day she had. She got reaped and taken away from the only family she had. She pictured herself getting killed in that awful arena and her mom having to watch that.
She also thought about Leo and his family how devastated they would ve to know that their son died at the age of only 12. She could already see a picture of his daily bawling their eyes out for their son to still be alive and with them. She didn't know alot about him but she knew he had an amazing future ahead of him and she wasn't letting anyone get in the way of that.
Not even herself
She wasn't even in the capitol yet and she was already freaking out about herself dieing in that arena. She was about to fall asleep when she heard three knocks at her door.
"Come in." She said in a tired voice since she was about to fall asleep in that comfy bed. But when the door opened she wasn't really surprised. In the doorway stood a tired little Leo.
"I couldn't fall asleep. But usually I sleep with someone like my brother or parents. Is it okay if maybe I slept with you?" he asked the tired girl. She responded with a simple nod of her head. He climbed in the bed. But he still couldn't sleep. "Can you sing a lullaby for me? My mom used to sing for me when I went to bed." He asked Her another question. Even though she wanted to go to bed, she just couldn't say no.
"You're headed for heaven. The sweet old hereafter. And I've got one foot in the door. But before I can fly up. I've loose ends to tie up. Right there in the old there before. I'll be alone. When I've finished my song . When I've shut down the band. When I've played out my hand. When I've paid all my debts. When I have no regrets, right here. In the old there before. I'll catch you up. When I've emptied my cup. When I've worn out my friends. When I've burned out both ends When I've cried all my tears. When I've conquered my fears. Right here In the old there before. When nothing is left anymore. I'll bring the news. When I've danced off my shoes .When my body's closed down. When my boat's run aground. When I've tallied the score. And I'm flat on the floor Right here In the old there before. When nothing is left anymore."
"When I'm pure like a dove When I've learned how to love Right here In the old there before When nothing is left anymore." She sang
It was one that her mom always sang to her when she was younger. When she felt arms around her stomach she looked down to see Leo snuggled up sleeping. She smiled at the little kid. She turned off the lights with one press of a button and she fell asleep almost Immediately.

Ahh I'm loving this book so much already and I've only started next week. I'm going to summer camp for a week so I'm not going to be able to post any chapters next week so I'm going to try to write as much in the next few days.
