(500) Days of Summer

How It Started

Me, Summer and my friend Steve went out for a drink…

“Hey! Summer can I ask you something” ask my friend Steve.

“Yeah, what’s that?”Summer asked.

“Do you have a boyfriend?”

“No” Summer’s answered with no emotion in her face.

“Why? Cause you’re a lesbian?”

Summer blurted a little laugh.

“No! Because I don’t want to”

“There’s a better answer than that” I insisted, maybe there’s really a reason why doesn’t she hook up on boys.

“No really,I don’t want to be involved in a relationship.”

“Because of your parents’ divorce?”

“Well that is one of the million reasons why…Because some people gave their love to the person they love but this person don’t know how to return the love that is given to them. They make people hurt and grieve in heartache. Isn’t this great? That you are free and independent in life? That no one will dictate you to do something. Cause were adults and this is our life.” She explained.

No one speaks after what Summer just said. Tom kept thinking what happen to this wonderful and innocent girl that her heart was hard as a stone. That she lived in a life with no emotion.

“Wow! You’re a dude man!” Steve exaggerates.

“What if you fall in love?” he suddenly asked without thinking.

“Love?! Love doesn’t exist. Don’t you know that 30% of marriage life ended up in divorce? Now can you explain to me where’s the love in their?”

“It’s because married couples don’t know how to handle their relationships.”

“Oh so now, you’re telling me fairy tale exists? That there is a happy ever after?”

“Yes! That fate is the one who decided who gets to who and goes to whom. If you’re meant to be you are destined to be”

“Well, I’m sorry Tom but I think you’re still stuck in your little dream world. I think I have to agree to disagree.”

Tom just shut his mouth. He can’t insist Summer to agree with him all the time.

After that night, they always go out for a drink or have dinner together. His feelings for Summer grew more and more each day.
