You reluctantly walked up to the bright red train and waved goodbye to your family one last time. as you stepped onto the train you couldn't help feel even more nervous for the long ride. You desperately look around for anyone looking as helpless as you but all you can spot is much older, taller kids. you decided to go find a carriage to sit in even if it was by yourself you just needed to look like you knew what you were doing. you peer into all the compartments trying to do it secretly but before staring into your brothers. He notices the look of worry on your face and excuses himself

"Hey Ev hows the train? found anyone to sit with yet?" He asked

 "Clearly not!" you say

"That's ok you'll find someone i'm sure! just keep going round till you find some first years.. look it was like that for everyone at the start it takes time to make friends but you'll be fine!" he said reassuringly

"Well it wasn't like that for you! You had Cedric and even Fred and George!" you protested

"Well if your gonna play that card you know a Weasley too!" he said referring to Ronald Weasley a friend of the family

"No that's weird we are barely friends!" Oliver gives you a look... "Ugh fine I'll go try find him, thanks for the help!" you say sarcastically

You know very well you are not going to go look for him but I mean if you happen to bump into him it wouldn't be the worst thing. Just as you become even less hopeful you find an empty compartment and decide you should just settle and see what happens. The small compartment has a subtle smell of dust and sweet caramel. you dump your small bag and sit down on the green seats. Every minute that goes by the more home sick you feel and you hadn't even arrived yet. You nervously play with your rings just hoping, waiting for someone to approach the door

The train rattled along, the rhythmic sound of wheels on the tracks doing little to calm your nerves. You stared out the window, watching the scenery blur by, but your mind was elsewhere—lost in thoughts of what the next few hours, days, and weeks might bring. The compartment  felt too big and too quiet. The emptiness seemed to amplify your anxiety, making you wish even more for some kind of distraction.

Suddenly, the door to your compartment slid open with a soft whoosh, startling you. You looked up to see a girl with a bright smile and warm, brown eyes standing in the doorway. Her hair was a gorgeous mess of honey-coloured curls, and she had an air of cheerful confidence that made you feel both relieved and a little envious.

"Hi!" she said brightly. "Mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is full."

You nodded, feeling a mixture of relief and awkwardness. "Yeah, sure. Go ahead."

"Thanks! Everywhere else is full, and I was starting to think I'd have to stand the whole way," she says with a giggle as she plops down across from you. "I'm Lavender, by the way. Lavender Brown. And you are?"

"Im Eveline Wood" you replied, feeling a little more at ease now that you had someone to talk to.

"So, first year too?" Lavender asked, leaning forward with interest.

"Yeah, You?"

"Yep! I'm so excited but also a bit nervous, you know? It's all so new! apparently the castles humungous I mean I think I'll get lost on the first day!" she said enthusiastically

"I know! I'm gonna be late to like every class! my brother said theres this moving staircase so I'm honestly terrified for that too!!"

"Oh how olds your brother?" She asks

"He's a fourth year.. do you have siblings?" you respond

"No I wish I did though I always wanted like at least two siblings I think an older one would be nice to give me advice and stuff but I mean a little baby sister would be adorable too!!" She continued to ramble on about her family, and one thing you've noticed from knowing Lavender briefly is she could talk for hours!
