You wake up to the bright sunlight streaming through the dormitory window. After a restless night, you blink the sleep out of your eyes and look around. The other girls in your dorm are already getting ready- you had never been a morning person, this was gonna take some getting used to. You reluctantly splashed your face, and put on your fresh Gryffindor robes. You brush your hair and tie it up, feeling ready to take on the day ahead. The other girls around you are just about ready to head down for breakfast,  except for Hermione who was apparently up for hours before anyone in the castle preparing.

Because of your late wake up you couldn't find a spot next to Lavender or Parvati so you opt for Ron- the next safest option. He's already digging into a pile of pancakes and looks up with a friendly grin as you sit down.

"Hey Ron, how's it going?"

Ron looks up from his plate with a welcoming smile. "Oh, hey! pretty good I mean who could complain about this feast every morning... what-bout-you?" he said scoffing down his food a bit too quickly.

"Pretty good," you reply. "but I checked and we have potions next so not looking forward to that"

Ron finally looks away from his food "really? potions is our first lesson.. just great" he mumbled

As breakfast winds down, you and Ron chat about Quidditch, your families, and other light topics.  Soon, the Gryffindor students start to head to their first class of the day. With a mix of excitement and nervousness, you make your way to Potions with the rest of the class, apprehensive about meeting the infamous Professor Snape.

POTIONS

Entering the Potions classroom, you see the Slytherins already seated, their faces a mix of boredom and smirking amusement. Professor Snape stands at the front of the room, his expression as cold as ever. He surveys the Gryffindor students with a scowl before beginning his lecture.

"Good morning. Today, you will be learning about the essentials of potion-making. This is not a class for those who are easily intimidated or lack the discipline and focus required to mix even the simplest of potions. Remember, a single error can result in a disastrous and potentially deadly outcome. Some possess the talent, and others don't," Snape drones in his signature monotone.

As Snape approaches your table, he stops and fixes his steely gaze on you. "Another Wood, I see. Let's hope you're not as insufferable as your brother," he sneers.

You meet his gaze firmly. "Well maybe I'm not as useless as you think professor"

Snape's sneer deepens as he mutters something about disrespecting authority under his breath before moving on to the next student. "Pay attention to the recipes and follow them precisely. Today's task is relatively simple: you will be brewing a potion that induces a sense of calm and relaxation. The instructions are written on the board. Begin." Snape was just as you had expected him, possibly even more unpleasant and he clearly didn't like you- or Potter.

You exchange a knowing glance with Parvati Patil, who's sitting next to you. You both shake your heads slightly in agreement, amused by Snape's antics. Gathering the ingredients listed on the board, you begin following the instructions for the potion.

"Honestly, this is kind of fun, apart from the teacher," you comment, stirring your cauldron.

Parvati lets out a small chuckle. "Yeah, Snape definitely has a way of ruining the mood. But potion-making itself is actually enjoyable, don't you think?"

"Honestly yeah, my mum like specialises in potions and stuff and I kind of get why she likes it now... not that I would ever admit that to her!" you laugh

You and Parvati finish your potion just before the period ends, you think you did a pretty good job but Snape thinks otherwise.

The rest of the day seems to pass by quickly. You have a very tedious Herbology lesson, not that there was anything wrong with it but Professor Sprout definitely talked a lot. Defence against the dark arts was interesting but Quirrel was the most timid grown man you had seen why did he even become a teacher? you thought. Between classes, you bond with Parvati, who is very sociable and loves talking at the speed of light.

Although your first day was fun, after last period you immediately collapsed on your bed. At least you had made better friends with Lavender and Parvati and you were still excited for Flying lessons that Thursday. Hogwarts was already starting to feel like home...

AN: Very short one I seriously couldn't think of anything honestly just itching to write the later years but I won't Xx
