The days leading up to Halloween were filled with excitement. The air was crisp, and leaves crunched underfoot as Eveline walked through the castle corridors. Hogwarts had been transformed into a magical wonderland, with enchanted jack-o'-lanterns floating above, their carved faces flickering with warm candlelight. Ghosts glided through the hallways, adding to the spooky atmosphere. Eveline couldn't help but feel a thrill of anticipation for her first Hogwarts Halloween.

Eveline was walking with Parvati and Lavender, their chatter echoing through the corridor.

"Did you see what Seamus did in Charms the other day" Lavender asked, giggling. "He tried to charm his pumpkin to sing, but it just screeched like a banshee instead."

Parvati burst into laughter. "Poor Seamus! Professor Flitwick looked like he was about to have a heart attack!"

Eveline laughed along with them, shaking her head. "Seamus always manages to liven things up" you say sarcastically

The trio joined the rest of the Gryffindors at lunch. Ron, as per usual was complaining about some transfiguration homework much to the chagrin of Hermione

You know, Ron, if you spent half as much time listening as you do sleeping in class, you might actually understand how to do it," she said, her tone sharp.

Ron rolled his eyes, looking thoroughly annoyed. "Oh, give it a rest, Hermione. Not everything has to be about books and studying, you know."

Hermione's eyes flashed with irritation. "Some of us care about our education, Ronald. But clearly, that's not something you'd understand."

Ron scowled and muttered under his breath, " God How can anyone stand her?" to Harry as Hermione promptly slammed her book shut and left the table.

Eveline exchanged a look with Parvati and Lavender, feeling a pang of sympathy for Hermione. While she knew Hermione could be a bit intense, she admired her dedication and intelligence. Ron's constant needling seemed particularly harsh today.

'You didn't have to be so harsh Ron" you say

Ron grumbled something unintelligible, but didn't push the argument further.

Dean and Neville sat down relieving the growing tension.

"Hey, Ev! Looking forward to the feast tonight?" Dean asked, falling into the seat beside her.

"Absolutely," Eveline replied with a grin. "I've heard so much about Hogwarts Halloweens. I can't wait to see it for myself."

Dean chuckled. "It's definitely something special. A lot different from how we celebrate Halloween back home."

Lavender, her curiosity piqued, leaned in. "What's Halloween like for Muggles?"

Dean's face lit up as he began to explain. "Well, back home, we carve pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns, just like here, but we also have this thing called trick-or-treating. Kids dress up in costumes and go door to door, asking for sweets. It's a lot of fun."

Parvati's eyes widened with interest. "That sounds amazing! I've read about trick-or-treating in books, but I never really got the idea ."

"It really is a blast," Dean said, smiling. "But Halloween at Hogwarts... it's something else entirely. I mean, we've got real magic here. Floating pumpkins, enchanted sweets, ghosts that tell stories—it's like being in a fairy tale."

"That's true," Eveline nodded. "Hogwarts does feel like the perfect place to celebrate Halloween. Everything's so alive and magical."

As the group headed to the Charms classroom, Dean waved goodbye and went to join Seamus, who was still fiddling with his quill, trying to get it to sing properly. Inside the classroom, the students were buzzing with excitement for the Halloween feast, and even Professor Flitwick seemed more relaxed than usual, allowing them to practice their charm work in pairs. Eveline teamed up with Parvati, and they spent most of the lesson laughing at their own attempts to make their feather float.
