"People call him the Death Eater," the news reporter's voice echoed through the screen. "There have been numerous victims targeted by this criminal. The motive behind these attacks remains unclear. There—"
Hawks stopped the video, his expression grave. "You both went into that alley without alerting any heroes. You put yourselves in serious danger."
"It's not Tokoyami's fault," (Y/n) interjected. "I was the one who investigated. I wasn't thinking clearly. I'm sorry."
Hawks sighed; his tone softer. "It's okay. You did the right thing by notifying me. Just remember to be cautious. If anything happened to either of you, I wouldn't forgive myself. I just wanted you to look out, not risk encountering someone dangerous like that and get eaten by a creep." (Y/n) flinched at his words, their seriousness sinking in.
Hawks leaned back in his chair, his gaze shifting between (Y/n) and Tokoyami. The weight of his concern was evident in the furrow of his brow.
"I know you both are capable," Hawks continued, his voice steadying. "But there are dangers out there that even seasoned heroes hesitate to face alone. Always prioritize your safety and teamwork."
Both of the third years nodded solemnly, grateful for Hawks' understanding despite the severity of their mistake.
"Good," Hawks acknowledged, a hint of pride in his voice. "And remember, asking for help doesn't make you weak. It makes you smart."
With that, Hawks dismissed them, allowing them to reflect on the lesson learned while reinforcing his confidence in their potential. As they left his office, (Y/n) felt a mixture of relief and determination to prove herself worthy of Hawks' trust and guidance.
After the tense meeting with Hawks, (Y/n) and Tokoyami retreated to their respective rooms. The warmth of the shower helped ease (Y/n)'s frayed nerves, the steam filling the air with a comforting embrace. She let the water wash away the lingering tension from the day's events, allowing herself a moment of solace.
Dressed in comfortable pajamas, (Y/n) settled onto her bed as the sun shone through her window, the soft sheets a welcome contrast to the adrenaline of earlier. As she reached for her phone, she noticed a flurry of notifications—a group video call request from Kyoka, Mina, Eijirou, Denki, Sero, and surprisingly Katsuki.
Accepting the call, she was greeted by the faces of her friends, their expressions full of joy.
"Dude, we finally got you on the call!" Eijirou's voice rang out with genuine excitement.
"About time! I've been holding onto so many jokes," Denki chimed in with a laugh.
"Don't you dare crack a joke or I'll kick you out of the call," Kyoka retorted, a hint of playful threat in her voice.
"You're lying, Kyoka. Deep down, you know you love my jokes," Denki teased back with a smirk.
"Hey, (Y/n), you seem quiet, by now you'd be laughing your ass off. I expect this from Bakugou, but—" Sero began, only to be cut off abruptly by Katsuki.
"If you've got something to say about me, say it to my fucking face," Katsuki interjected sharply, his tone leaving no room for further comment.
"I'm okay, just tired. It's been a long day," (Y/n) replied, her words not entirely truthful. It was only the afternoon and she was in her room all day except for that encounter with Hawks; she wasn't even tired.
Hawks had warned them not to disclose the details of what they had witnessed, adding an extra layer of stress to the situation.
"Oh, alright," Mina said understandingly. "Have you guys heard about that 'death eater'?"
