Day Four

It had been a few hours since you and Four went your separate ways. You were currently asleep beneath the tree you had slept under the prior evening. You had initially thought about sleeping on the beach, but remembered just how uncomfortable waking up on it was, and quickly decided against it. Even though there was no sign of rain in sight, you still decided to hunker down under the tree for the night, just because it was comfortable. And because the branches kept the morning light out of your eyes.

You were surprised just at how quickly you adapted to sleeping outside, being previously used to spending your evenings in a bed. Maybe objects were more adapted to sleeping outdoors? As your chest rose and sank slowly and the night wind ruffled the grass around you, your unconscious self failed to notice a figure making its way toward you. Illuminated slightly by the moonlight, Four stood above you. They looked at you and then quickly did a double take. For a moment, you'd looked like something they'd never seen before... Something with proportions similar to David or Dora, but also not like them at all.

The integer shook their head and rubbed their eyes, glancing down at you again to see you were the same as before. Just your normal object self. They blinked in confusion before shrugging it off. Must have just been the darkness mixed with their mind playing tricks on them. They smiled and closed the short distance between the two of you, sitting on their knees beside you. An outstretched index poked your side. Once, twice, four times in quick succession. However, this did not arouse you from your sleep in the slightest.

Four huffed in slight annoyance, placing both hands on you and shaking persistently until you awoke. You tensed and arose slightly, groaning in disdain at another rude awakening. But, looking up, you were immediately eye to eye with Four. You gasped and jolted backward.

"F-Four!? What're you doing h-!"

"Shhhh!"

They shushed you, putting a hand over your mouth and then pointing upward. Looking up, you noticed Flower sleeping in the tree branches above you. You're surprised you didn't notice sooner, as she was snoring quite loudly. It was kind of sweet of her to sleep in the same area as you... She must have remembered you'd slept here the day prior and followed. Putting your attention back on Four, you pulled their hand from your face and began speaking again, this time in a hushed tone as to not wake the object residing above.

"(What're you doing here?)"

They took their hand back and grinned, round eyes glistening slightly in the moonlight.

"(I came to find you!)"

"(Well, I understand that... but, why?)"

You felt a bit shy, shifting in place nervously. They were very close to you, even after you'd scooted back a little. You felt your face get a little warm, but hoped it wasn't noticeable in the darkness.

"(I want to show you something I found! It's neat.)"

You sighed, smiling. As unpleasant as it was to be woken up so late at night, you couldn't help but feel happy that the number had sought you out again. They may have just been wanting attention, which wouldn't be out of character for them, but that didn't matter to you. The fact that it was *you* who they were wanting attention from meant a lot to you.

"(Well, alright then. Let's see what you found.)"

You didn't even have to finish your sentence before Four was grabbing at your hands to pull you up off the ground. They led you away from the tree and you followed without issue, taking care to keep your eye on them as to not lose them in the darkness. You could see pretty well because of the soft light the moon provided, but because of Four's coloration, they blended into the environment pretty easily. As you went, Flower lay perched up in the tree, watching you two go. You hadn't even noticed her snoring cease in the middle of your conversation with Four.
