Intimicy is like honey in a relationship; the excess it becomes, the toxic it turns.
Strings of chillness blew as the trees shuddered, inducing a pleasant noise to the night. The whole city was asleep except two souls at the terrace of Mukundan Illam. Mukundan, a retired IPS officer, owned immense respect in the society. His daughter Anjali was thus given special treatment in all areas she sauntered. Anyway, who would want to mess with an ex-police's daughter? But Shyam had other plans; he had guts to make Mukundan's daughter his girlfriend.
Shyam and Anjali stood at the terrace; an envelope of silence covered them whilst Shyam was cautious of the surrounding. He didn't want to get caught but he wanted his girlfriend's forgiveness. Without any other solution, he met her as she pleased. However her nonchalance irked him as he cursed himself for the situation. Was it his fault that he was practical and not stupidly romantic?
"Anju, please," he whispered.
Anjali stood calm and emotionless; she couldn't tolerate constant arguments at regular intervals. Infact, she was fed up with his behaviour. The initial spark which she found in him had dimmed and she found no thrill in the relationship. For a moment, she wondered if the lack of physical intimacy was the reason. Her mind went blank and she recollected the advances made by Shyam.
"Anju... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-"
"Kiss me, Sam," she whispered.
"What?" His eyes widened as he stepped back, astounded.
"Kiss me, Sa-"
He pounced over her, not caring about the exposed surrounding. Pushing her towards the nearest wall, he nibbled her lips. His hands clasped her neck while Anjali's encircled his torso. Shyam lifted her, slightly, balancing their height difference; he kissed her aggressively, almost sucking the life out of her lips. His right hand sneaked into her pink button-up shirt, caressing her soft waist. Anjali moaned as soon as she felt his hand creeping up to her breast.
"Aah, S-sam!" She grabbed his hand, reluctantly and he retreated.
He arched his eyebrow, disappointed.
"Not now," she said.
"Come on! This is common in a relationship. We've been together for seven months but you still don't allow our relationship to escalate further."
Shyam leaned on the wall, beside her. His frustration was evident. Anjali, however, was despondent with his reaction. It was their first kiss but all he wanted was to escalate it. Sensing her sudden stillness, Shyam glimpsed at her.
"By the way, the kiss was awesome. It was more than what I expected," he said.
Anjali blushed at his comment, forgetting his deeds. "I love you."
"Me too," he said, "so, henceforth, can I kiss you when I please?"
She nodded with a smile, lost in thoughts. Maybe, this intimacy will strengthen our relationship.
While Anjali was in her own thoughts, Shyam was delighted with the kiss. I wonder when we'll move forward. Being so close yet so far...
...
"When are you planning to tell him?" Radha asked.
Sita swallowed a morsel and mumbled, "He will never accept me."
"He compliments you, cares about you and most importantly, he had thrashed the guy who misbehaved with you. Isn't this love? Atleast, crush?"
Sita chuckled, her voice clogging with lamentation. "It's all because I'm his cousin. And he's committed."
