Even when the path ends, our journey doesn't end in this world.

Shyam was tongue-tied when he heard Vikram's confession. The second year guy had been forced to open up and he admitted his feelings for Sita, his professor's cousin. To add fuel to the burning fire, Shyam was enlightened with the newfound information: Vikram had already proposed to her.

A few minutes later, Vikram said, "Sir, I know this is shocking and you may feel angry about this. But I can't help it. You asked why I'm feeling off since last month; this is the reason."

"What's her response?"

"Huh?"

"What was Sita's response?" he repeated.

Vikram gulped, discomfort creeping over his senses. However, he managed to answer him. "She said she's in love with someone."

"Oh!" Shyam sighed.

He thought Vikram could make her forget the person she's in love with; Sita's stubbornness was something extraordinary but he believed Vikram's love would heal her. Without thinking about what he was about to do, Shyam did the first thing that came to his mind.

"It's one-sided," he whispered.

"Obviously. She doesn't like me," Vikram muttered, dejectedly.

Shyam rolled his eyes. "From her side too."

"Oh ok- wait! What?" The poor guy was visibly frazzled. He looked around to see if someone passing by their side, heard their conversation.

"Don't worry! There's no one, here... But Vicky, head me out keenly."

Vikram gulped , wondering if he was going to scold him for falling in love with his cousin. Understanding his unsaid fear, Shyam smiled, reassuringly.

"I'm not gonna scold you."

A sigh of relief escaped the student's throat as he nodded, slowly.

"I shouldn't say this... But I think this will make her life better. So... Vicky, Sita's love is unrequited and she's trying to move on. I guess you still stand a chance. I trust you with her."

Vikram's lips curved up as his eyes lit up in joy. "Sir, for real?"

"Yup! But take care of her. She's my cousin and I don't like anyone hurting her." A tint of protectiveness emitted from his voice.

"Sure, Sir! She's my life; she's precious. But... I don't think she'll agree. My age is also a factor."

"Age is just a number, Vicky. You're what? Hardly two years younger than her. It's no problem. Just don't hurt her," Shyam said.

Vikram nodded, enthusiastically and muttered, "Alright, Sir! I hope she gives me a chance."

"She will."

Aftermath, Vikram was called to discuss the culmination of the programme and Shyam stood in the corridor, feeling guilty. Albeit he knew about Sita's character and how much she loved that guy, he encouraged Vikram to pursue his love. He hoped neither of them were left hurt in the end. The last thing he would want to witness is seeing his Sita break and face his student's wrath.

Slowly, his conscience filled with guilt and remorse. Am I using him for Sita's benefit? Did I make a mistake by this reckless decision of mine?

Train of queries rushed through his mind as he shrugged, hoping for the best. A sense of relief embraced him as he reminded himself that he was just trying to make things better for Sita.
