 ❁ GARGI'S POV

"I mean it beta," he chuckled and drew out a knife.

"B...but papa" I was worried.

What was he doing?

Why was he doing it?

Mr. Akshay Singh Oberoi heaved a deep, heavy, sigh, and turned to me.

"You are going out of the house. That is your punishment-" He said crossing his arms.

"Are you...really"

"Yes. I mean it," My dad smirked.

This made me edgy. I was not sure how to react to this.

Did I come all the way from Boston just to listen to them asking me to get out of the house?

"Why?" I asked retorting back. I had long lost my cool.

"Is this why I struggled so much to go abroad and study business for your sake? For our company's sake"

Dad burst out into a devilish laughter.

"Struggled?" he asked, raising his brow.

"Yes," I mumbled again. He was not the same person I had left behind two years ago.

He was not my father.

Or maybe I was not his daughter?

Maybe he got to know the truth only after so many years?

Was that why he was behaving weirdly?

"Struggled" he laughed again, much to my irritation.

" Did you listen to her, Sushmi, seems like she has struggled a lot in her life." he stressed the word struggle, mocking me.

He cut the apples and handed me a slice. I, though hesitatingly, took one from him. He took a coffee mug and gently started sipping it.

I stood there, speechless. I had too much of shock that day. I was so horrified seeing my parents behave strangely.

I had come home with hope, I had longed to be with them.

Just imagine, you come back home after a very long time and people you love the most give you a cold shoulder. What will you do? How would you react?

Icing on the cake : They want you out of the house

I snapped back from my thoughts and looked at my father, I just hoped he was joking. I really hoped he was just joking.

He wasn't.

"Hmm..." he said as he enjoyed taking a small sip from it.

"So, where were we?...oh yeah. The thing is, you are not allowed to come back into the house for six months and I am being very serious about it. If you try to argue now, the duration might increase"
