Vivienne woke up to the soft glow of morning sunlight filtering through her window. She stretched and reached for her phone, which was buzzing on her nightstand. Blinking sleep from her eyes, she unlocked the screen and saw a text from an unfamiliar number. Her heart sank when she read the message.

"Hey Vivienne, it's Harriet. I'm in town for a gig tonight. Would love to catch up after school. Let me know if you're free. - H."

Vivienne stared at the message, a mix of emotions swirling inside her. Harriet, her ex-girlfriend, was in La Push. The memories of their relationship and the heartbreak that followed flooded back. She had just started to feel happy and grounded with Leah, and now Harriet's sudden appearance threatened to stir up old wounds.

Vivienne took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. She couldn't ignore the message, but she needed to think carefully about how to respond. She decided to get ready for school first, hoping that a clear head would help her make the right decision.

As she dressed and packed her bag, she replayed moments from her relationship with Harriet in her mind. Harriet had been her first love, but their relationship had ended painfully. Despite the hurt, a part of her was curious to see Harriet again, to find closure, and to understand what had brought her to La Push.

At school, Vivienne tried to focus on her classes, but her mind kept drifting back to the text. During lunch, she found herself sitting with Embry and Quil, who were goofing around as usual. Leah was there too, her presence a comforting anchor in Vivienne's tumultuous day.

"Hey, you okay?" Leah asked, noticing Vivienne's distraction.

Vivienne forced a smile. "Yeah, just a lot on my mind."

Leah frowned slightly but didn't press. "If you need to talk, I'm here."

Vivienne nodded, appreciating Leah's understanding. "Thanks, Leah."

After school, Vivienne lingered by her locker, the decision about meeting Harriet still weighing heavily on her. Finally, she took out her phone and typed a reply.

"Hi Harriet, it's good to hear from you. I'm free after school. Where should we meet?"

Harriet's response came quickly. "How about the café on Main Street at 4 PM? Looking forward to seeing you."

Vivienne sent a quick "See you then" before slipping her phone back into her bag. She felt a knot of anxiety in her stomach but tried to push it aside. She had to face Harriet and whatever feelings seeing her again might bring.

At the end of the school day, Vivienne walked to the café, her heart pounding with each step. As she approached the entrance, she saw Harriet sitting at a table by the window, her striking blue eyes scanning the street. Vivienne took a deep breath and pushed the door open.

Harriet looked up, and a smile spread across her face. "Vivienne! It's so good to see you."

"Hi, Harriet," Vivienne said, forcing a smile as she sat down across from her. "It's been a while."

"It has," Harriet agreed. "You look great."

"Thanks," Vivienne replied, feeling a mix of awkwardness and nostalgia. "You too."

They made small talk for a while, catching up on their lives since they last saw each other. Harriet talked about her band and their tour, and Vivienne shared a bit about her move to La Push and starting college.

"So, how's life here?" Harriet asked, her eyes studying Vivienne closely.

"It's been good," Vivienne said, choosing her words carefully. "I've met some amazing people."
