Chapter 21: Figuring Out the Plan

When me and Steve get back to the tower, we head to our rooms and change out of our suits. I look at the Pachirisu on the bed and I grab it. Just looking at the doll reminded me of the day I won it for her. The fair was full of games and food trucks and rides. That day was our 5th date and it was amazing. I remember us walking by the milk bottle game and she had stopped and smiled big when she saw the Pachirisu. I paid the worker there and he gave me three baseballs. I throw them and knocked down two of the milk bottle towers. I got her the Pachirisu and she seemed super happy and I kissed her.

I held the Pachirisu close to me and remembered everything we did together. I miss her and I'd give anything to see her and hold her right now. I hear a knock on my door and hear Steve's voice, "Peter, Tony wants to know if your gonna go down to the lab". I stand up from my bed and put the Pachirisu on the pillow. I open the door to see Steve standing there with a long face, "Yeah, I'm coming down right now" I say and shut the door. When I walk in I see Tony working on something. "Hey" I say to Tony grabbing his attention. I walk over to the table and see a hologram of a device, "Hey, Peter" he replies and continues to work on the device.

"What's this?" I ask.

"Ok, so, ever since you and Steve came back and we didn't see Alli, Steve explained it to all of us. He told us that she was trapped in there and couldn't get out."

"Yeah, she has an anklet on and if she tries to escape, or if she tries using her powers on her uncle, she gets shocked."

"Ok, so this device is to cancel out the electric frequency of that anklet and whatever is powering it. Once it's finished, we'll test it and if it works we can use it to get that anklet off Alli."

"When can you start making it?" I ask in anticipation to get Alli out of that fucked up home as soon as possible. "Tomorrow. I still have to work on some things on the blueprints" he says and I nod. "Peter, if I could do it in a minute, I would. But I need time" he says and I nod again and walk out of the room and to the kitchen. I grab a bag of chips and a soda can and sit on the couch watching a movie. After I finished watching the movie, I put the chips away and the soda can in the recycling bin and I head to my room. I lie on my bed grabbing the Pachirisu from the pillow and holding it close to me. I feel my eyes start to get heavy and I close them. The last thing I think of is Alli being here with me.

I wake up and look at the time, and it says 4:36PM and I sit up. I walk over to the window and look out to the city. I hear the cars beeping and see the people walking on the streets, either on their phones or doing something else. "Can't stop thinking about Alli?" I hear someone say behind me. I turn around and see Natasha standing at the door. "No, I'm just worried about her. She's in a house with a drunken lunatic and she can't use her powers to protect herself" I say turning back to the window.

"I'm sure she can protect herself without her powers" Natasha says and I turn back to her.

"I guess your right, but I still gotta try to help her."

"I know, she knows that you'll help her. But what made her leave in the first place?"

"It was when I got mad at her for what I heard her say."

"What'd she say?" she asks walking in and sitting on the chair.

"She was talking to Steve and I heard her say that they kissed and that she had mixed feelings. I got mad at her and swung off."

She nods and looks down, "Well, everyone gets jealous once in a while. Maybe she was just feeling lost and Steve was the only one there for her." she says. "Why'd she think that? She knows that she can come over to my room and talk to me" I say in confusion. "She's just stressed out. She just needs time to think. Maybe that's why she left" Nat says. Maybe Natasha's right. Maybe she left because she just need time to think. I look down and stare at the Pachirisu doll on the bed and grab it. "Was that hers? Natasha asks me and I nod.
