Chapter 14: The Serum and an Attack on the Tower

When we get to the tower, I go to my room and change into the same clothes I had on this morning. After that I go to the lab where I see Peter, Tony, and Bruce examining the serum. "Did you find out what it is yet?" I ask out of curiosity. "Not yet, we still need to know what chemicals the serum has" Tony says and Peter walks up to me and kisses my cheek. "You gonna come down for lunch?" I ask him as I wrap my arms around his neck. "Sure" he says and we walk to the elevator and take it down to the dinning room which is connected to the kitchen. When we get there we see Sam, Steve, Clint, Natasha, and Thor there. "Ah, Lady Alli and the man of spiders, have you come to eat?" Thor asks. "Yeah, Thor, we're gonna eat" I say chuckling a little. We both sit at the table and eat what's on the table.

After were done we hear Jarvis say, "Mr. Stark and Mr. Banner have requested that you all go up to the lab". We all get up and head to the lab to see Tony and Bruce at the table looking at something. "So, what's the news on the serum?" I ask them as I walk up to the table to see a list of the chemicals in the serum. "Well, they added some chemicals to mess with the neural transmitter in the brain. It does more than wipe every memory in your mind, but it also replaces it with a different memory" Bruce says to us. "What type of memory?" Sam asks as he looks at the list of chemicals. "It puts the memory that you've worked for Hydra" Tony says.

"I guess that solves the problem on how they got Bucky to work for them" Steve says.

I look at Steve and see him frown. I walk over to him and put my hand on his shoulder. He looks at me and I look at him and hug him, "He's fine though, Steve. He snapped out of the serum when he saw you" Sam said and I pull back. "I'm sure he wouldn't go back to them" I say to him and he smiles and nods. We look at Tony and Bruce again and suddenly we hear the alarm go off. "Sir, there's an intruder in the living room. Shall I activate the weapons?" Jarvis asks Tony. "Not yet. Not until we know who it is" he responds. "I'll go up there and see who it is" Clint says to all of us. "I'll go with him" I say and I was about to leave I feel something stick to my waist. I turn to see a web stuck to my waist and I look at Peter, "Your not gonna go. It's too dangerous" he says. "I'm going, Peter, now let me go." I say to him with a straight face. "Alli, just stay here" he says to me and I roll my eyes. "Peter, I'm not Gwen! I can take care of myself!" I say and I cut the web with an ice dagger I made and I walk off with Clint.

When we get to the living room I grab Clint's wrist and turn us both invisible. We walk quietly over to where the intruder and we see him armed with a gun. I get a good look at his logo on his suit and see that it's Hydra. 'Do we attack?'  I ask Clint in my mind as I look at the Hydra agent rummaging through the living room. 'Not yet. We have to tell Tony.'  Clint replies to me. 'I got that covered. Peter, tell Tony that Hydra infiltrated Avengers Tower.' I tell him through my mind and I don't hear a reply. 'I know him' I hear Clint say in my mind.

'You do?' I ask him.

' His name is Grant Ward. He used to be an agent for S.H.I.E.L.D. but ever since the incident with Cap, I guess this is his true color.'

I look at Ward and I hear Clint say in my mind, 'We attack on my mark'. When he says go I make us visible and I attack him. I face Ward and he looks at me with a smirk. "You know if you weren't a part of the Avengers and didn't have powers, I would ask you to dinner" he says and I look at him in disgust and roll my eyes. "Shut up, asshole" I say and I kick him in the stomach. He lands hard on the floor and looks up at me, "Your not a bad fighter" he says getting up smirking. He runs toward me and tries to punch me. I dodge and with a flick of my wrist I send him flying to the other side of the room. I fly over there and pin him against the wall with my telekinesis. Clint looks over and nods and walks over to Ward. I let go of him and Clint grabs him and takes him to the prison cells.

While Clint takes ward to his cell, the others come and look at Ward then at me. "You really kicked his ass" Sam says and I smile and laugh. Peter walks up to me and smiles, but I roll my eyes and avoid eye contact with him. "Alli, I'm sorry. I was overprotective and I'm sorry for that" he says to me. "Yeah, whatever. I know you couldn't protect Gwen, but that doesn't mean you need to act that way towards me. Have you thought that the whole time we were crime fighting in Midtown?" I ask him looking at him angrily. He just looks down and rubs the back of his neck, "Yeah that's what I thought. I'll be down in the prison cells if you need me" I say and head towards the elevator angry. I can't believe he doesn't trust me! I should've known though, he wanted to protect Gwen and I knew that someday he would do the same thing to me.

*Peter's POV*

I watch as Alli walks to the elevator angry with me. "Dude, you really messed it up" Tony says to me and I look at him angrily. "Shut up. I thought I was doing what was best for her" I say to him. "She just needs time, but you can't be overprotective like that. I may not know who this 'Gwen' is, but I know that you shouldn't treat her like you did to Gwen" Steve says and he's right. I'm overprotecting her like I did to Gwen. I walk over to the elevator and go to my room and think for a minute. I love Alli and I know she loves me too. I know she's different from Gwen, completely. She's the one who showed me that not every girl is the same. She's confident in so many ways and I admire her for that.

I hear a knock on the door and hope that it was Alli. I open it and see Clint standing there, "Hey, Clint" I say to him. "Hey, Peter" he says to me and he leans on my door frame and I sit on the bed. "Alli told me everything while we were down in the prison cells putting Ward away" he says to me. "I know, I messed up. I was being way too overprotective of her and I made her feel like crap" I say looking down. He walks in and sits next to me putting a hand on my shoulder. "She told me that it wasn't entirely your fault that you acted like that. You were just trying to protect her and she thinks that it was sweet of you to care for her like that" he says to me and I smile. I hear another knock on the door and look up to see Alli there and I smile. "I'll leave you two alone" Clint says and he leaves the room and Alli walks in. "Hey" she says to me. "Hey" I say to her and she takes a seat next to me.

"Listen, Alli, I'm sorry about the way I acted. It was stupid of me to overprotect you like that."

"No, it's not your fault, Peter. You were just caring for me and it was sweet of you to do that."

I smile at her and she smiles back, "I'm sorry for bringing up Gwen" she said. "It's ok, I needed to be reminded that your not like Gwen at all" I say to her and grab her hand. "I love you, Peter" she says to me with a big smile on her lips. "I love you too, Alli" I reply and I kiss her. She kisses me back and then pulls back, "I'm gonna interrogate Ward in an hour. Are you gonna come?" she asks me. "Yeah, I'll be there" I say and I kiss her again.
