For the first time in forever, I was having fun and we hadn't even been out of the house.
"We have to leave" I heard his voice from outside my room
"Yeah, just a second" I replied as I sent my mom a picture of my outfit.
I don't usually do that but I somehow feel indebted to her.
if it weren't for her, we wouldn't be going on this trip.
after almost a year of this shit that we have gone through as friends or whatever else, we needed this cleanse.
This might be a way for us to become friends again.
I was lost in my train of thought when I heard him again, "Shivani we need to leave".
"The flight takes off at 10, it's 6 right now, so we don't need to get there 4 hours early" I smashed open the door in his face.
He leaned down to my level, looking from eye to eye, "The earlier, the better"
he patted my head as he grabbed the luggage.
oh my god!
my heart almost missed a beat.
"Shivani! Get a hold of yourself", my inner conscience warned me.
........
I switched the camera back on again, "Guess who left his phone at home!".
"hi...yeah... it's on the table next to my bed", I heard him saying to his assistant in London who went to the house to bring back his phone.
"Mr. Perfect isn't that perfect I guess", I said zooming the camera into my face as if I was going to upload all of this to YouTube later.
I might as well do it if I am filming all of this.
"it's going to be here in five minutes, see this is why I said the earlier the better. if you forget something you can get it back in time"
he handed my phone back to me, "I feel sweaty and sweaty like when you think people are judging you but they are not"
"You need to stop yapping when you are nervous, it's fine", he put his hand over my shoulder, almost wrapping me into him.

Oh my god!

My stomach did that thing again.
"let's get on that 10-hour flight darling......or you want sweetheart?"
His lips were very close to kissing me on the forehead.
My breath hitched. I looked up only to find him looking directly into my eyes, his pupils extra-large with something shining in them. Was it love? Can you call it love? Am I falling into something like that again? With him?

A familiar but uncomfortable silence flew through the gap between us.
I remember it clearly, that feeling, those emotions and the love we shared 6 years ago. This felt like, all of that was making a place in my heart again.
The silence that stirred something inside me, all of it felt eerily familiar.
It scared me!

“Uhm” he spoke, breaking our intense eye contact that we maintained for utmost six minutes or so, “we should really go or else we’ll miss the flight”.

“Yea” he walked forward while I stood there shaking my head and all the ambiguous thoughts of it.

“Coming? Ya fir yaha rukne ka irada hai?”

“Aarahi hun na”

Knowing him, he knew what I was thinking. He can see through me but he still chose to stay silent.

What’s going on with you aadi?

………..

We entered the boarding gate; all the bags were being dragged by him while I was enjoying that ice cream he bought me earlier.

Princess treatment only!

“You might wanna eat it jaldi nhi toh main kha jaunga” he stood there looking at me like my father looked at me when I didn’t finish my food.

“don’t look at me like that!” I rolled my eyes.
If you are eating an ice cream, you have enjoy every bite of it.
It’s as precious to me like my Gucci bag.

……….

“We have landed, it’s really cool!” I exclaimed to my non-existent audience.
He came and stood in front of my camera, signalling me to lower it. He stooped forwards, making eye contact with me.
“You just woke up, isiliye everything looks fascinating to you”
He stepped closer, standing tall only his neck bending to meet my eyes. He took the camera and switched it off, “for once stop filming everything and enjoy………with me” he whispered the last part moving even closer.

“y—" words barely came out of my mouth, “why are you coming….closer as you speak”

“Why are you not stepping back as I come close”
A titillating smirk played on his lips. It looked good on him, honestly.

His fingers slightly brushed my cheek, then tucked the hair strand that managed to escape my hair tie behind my ear.
Whispering into my ear he said, “it’s me and you for a month…. all alone…. good luck escaping me now sweetheart”
His voice was dusky and heavy.

“We are at the airport” I whispered so that no one else could hear us, “there are people here”.

“And? this isn’t India. No aunty, no judgement”
His gaze meeting mine every time he speaks, grabbing the extra cloth on my peplum top he pulled me closer this time.

“Excuse me love birds!” a voice, not very pleasing, interrupted us. Both of us turned our heads towards him, “I am your guide for the rest of the tour” he claimed.

Advit stayed where he was, not moving an inch, “do you want me to guide you to your hotel room”, he said giving us a look, his eyes rooming between me and advit.

“What? That’s your job, right” advit asked, while the guide nodded his head.
“Then do it!” he exclaimed, reverting his eyes to meet mine again, “and let me do mine.”
He whispered in my ear, and an exasperating smirk appeared on his lips.

Launde sharam kar, vo kutta dekh raha hai!

His fingers travelled to my shoulder, grazing my arm as light as a feather he held my hand.
“Let’s go!” he exclaimed
