Although he couldn't care less about those who said unsavory things about him, Sherlock is midly annoyed it when people assume he was a child genius & persist in spreading those rumours. He actually just an intelligent child who was a jack-of-all-trades with an excellent memory, but he won't denounce those rumours because: (1) his enemies will see him as less of a threat, (2) Mummy Holmes was a mathematical genius , (3) being very a ingellient jack-of-all-trades kid with a good memory is borderline genius, but creating rumours about mastering playing the violin at age 8 is unrealistic.
John was sick of people assuming that Johnlock is a thing, but now he doesn't even know where he stands with Sherlock, Mary being an assassin and all...
