CHAPTER 28: Night Texts

Jenny's POV

It's 7pm and I'm still with my study group. We finished our work hours ago but they wanted to keep hanging out. They were fun to be around so I stayed, even though I also very much wanted to go back to Blake's.

We're now sitting on the bench at a park, tired from playing soccer the past hour. I felt my phone ring from my pocket and saw it was Blake.

Blake🤍: are you coming back? I miss you.

Me: I miss you too, but I think we might have to reschedule. I'm still with my study group.

Blake🤍: Oh, who did you end up choosing?

Me: Sarah, Abby and Homer

Blake🤍: Abby? Why her?

Me: They were the ones available

Blake🤍: But she practically drools at the sight of you. How about I pass by and take you home?

Me: They'll find it weird if their math professor shows up just to pick me up. Plus, we're about to split up soon. I'll call you when I get home.

She replied with 'fine' and I turned off my phone to see them all staring at me.

"What?" I asked.

"Who was that, a boyfriend?" Homer teased.

"Was it?" Abby asked, looking worried.

Okay, maybe Blake does have a point. Realizing it now she was clinging on to me the entire day but I just thought she was like that to everybody.

"No, anyways how's your other classes going?" I ask to change the conversation.

After half an hour, I made it back home with Sarah.

"Oh Jenny, I won't be here during the weekend my brother asked me to go with him to have a late thanksgiving or something." Sarah said.

"fuck, I forgot I'm doing the same. I can't believe they won't even give us a day off for thanksgiving!"

"It sucks right? I'm just waiting for winter break, so I can meet up with all my family. Anyways, I'll be in my room if you need anything. Night!" she said leaving.

I went to my room as well and I was about to call Blake but the second I went on my bed, my eyes closed on its own.

I hear a phone ringing on my nightstand and saw it was from Blake.

"Hello?" I say, yawning

"Are you sleeping?"

I looked at my clock from my nightstand and saw it was 10pm.

"I'm up now, everything alright?" I said, sitting up.

"I just wanted to make sure you got home safe, you never called back."

"Sorry, I crashed out on my bed."

"It's fine, just wanted to make sure that Abby kid didn't try anything funny."

I laughed, "Don't worry, before I left I told her i'm in a relationship and she took it well, I think."

"She better..." She whispers, "Moving on, are you free Monday, want to come over after class?"

"Yeah, of course" I say, getting mentally excited.

"Great! I'll let you sleep now, goodnight my love." Blake says.

"Goodnight" I said hanging up.

I lay back on the bed and the second I closed my eyes, my phone buzzed. I forcefully opened my eyes to see it was my brother.

I immediately got up to respond, he rarely texts me unless it's an emergency.

Nick: Are you up?

Me: Yeah, everything good?

Nick: Yea. I just need some advice.

Advice? He never once came to me for advice. Hopefully I don't mess it up.

Me: Of course, shoot.

Nick: Uh, how did you find out you liked the same gender

Fuck! Has he not came out yet? I thought he was dating Joey, our neighbor. I seriously need to talk to him more.

Me: Is this about Joey?

Nick: Never mind, ima go to sleep.

Me: No! Sorry, I'll tell you!

Nick: Fine.

Phew, almost blew it!

Me: Well, ever since I was little I always found girls attracted, and during sophomore year I shared my first kiss with a girl and it just felt right.

Nick: Oh okay

Me: Does that help?

Nick: Not really

Me: Tell me what's happening, I can help you out more.

Nick: why should I? you don't share anything with me. anyways I'll manage, thanks though.

Ugh. I knew I should have spent more time with him, but every time I tried he would be playing games or busy with Joey.

Me: I'll tell you something in return then!

Nick: Depends what it is. Then I'll decide if I should tell you.

Me: I'm dating someone.

Nick: Not enough. goodnight..

Me: Fine! It's someone you've seen before and she may or may not be one of my professor's.

Nick: What?! When, who and how?!

Me: I won't say anymore until we talk about your issue first.

Nick: Fine but you have to tell me everything! Okay, it's about Joey, we were in my room and he kissed me out of nowhere and I backed away from shock. He apologized and left before I could say anything.

Me: Oh shit, to be honest, I thought you guys were already dating.

Nick: Really? What makes you say that?

Me: Well your face lights up whenever you guys are together. Plus you guys get a little too touchy to be just friends. So do you like him?

Nick: That's what I wanted to know. I never liked anyone before, how do I know?

Me: Well how did you feel about the kiss?

Nick: It felt strange because it was my first kiss but I also can't stop thinking about it.

Me: Do you see yourself going out with him?

Nick: Yes... This is so weird talking to you about it.

Me: Haha, a little right? I'm sorry for not spending much time with you.

Nick: It's alright. I don't blame you, we're both busy and had different interest, I get it.

Me: Still I'll make it up to you when I go over, we'll spend a day together, yeah?

Nick: Sounds good. So what do I do about Joey?

Me: Talk it out with him, let him know how you feel. Remember, communication is key!

Nick: Alright, thank you Jen. Don't think I forgot about you and your professor. You are so going to tell me all about it next time!

Me: Alright, whatever you say. Goodnight!

Nick: Night

I turned my phone off again and felt very happy that I got to help my brother out. I have to thank Blake for waking me up or else he would have changed his mind about asking me.
