CHAPTER 30: Arcade

Blake's pov

"Blake drive faster, please!" Jenny says, bouncing her leg.

"I'm going as fast as I can baby. We're only maybe five minutes away, probably less." I said soothing her leg.

In no time, we pulled up to her driveway, she quickly got out of the car and I opened the trunk.

"No get the suitcases later, I want to meet them already." she yells.

I nod and went to her and she knocked twice and the door opened immediately.

Jenny and her mother hugged first, "Jenny! I'm glad to see you guys made it here in one piece!"

After a few seconds they pull away and she looks at me and comes in for a tight hug, "Blake, what a pleasure of seeing you again! Thank you for keeping her in safe hands."

"It's no problem at all." I smile

"Come in, come in." she says opening the door widely.

I walk in and scanned around, it was beautiful! The house felt nice and cozy. It was decorated with the many minimal brown, white, and orange color decor.

I saw Jenny hugging her brother I assume, he was a bit taller than her and had short brown curly hair.

"Blake! This is my brother, Nick, and this my Blake, my girlfriend." she whisper the last part to him.

Nick sticks his hand out, "Um, nice meeting you Blake."

I shake his hand firmly, "Nice meeting you too." I smile politely.

Behind him was a taller more muscular boy, with blond hair who kept a straight face, no emotion at all.

"Oh, this is my friend Joey. He lives next door." Nick adds.

I smile and send him a nod, "Yeah, Hey." he says still emotionless.

Nick bumped his arm, and began whispering then saw Joey roll his eyes and whispered, "Sorry" to Nick.

Nick shakes his head, and excuses himself as he pulls Joey up the stairs and I looked over to Jenny confused.

"Joey's like that, don't take it personally. He was like that with me for three years." she says.

"Jenny, show Blake to her room, hurry food's almost done." Jenny's mom yells from the kitchen.

"Will do." Jenny smiles, taking my hand leading me upstairs.

"My room is this one and yours will be right here." She says taking me to the door across from hers.

She opens the door and pulls me inside and closes it and jumps on the bed then lets out a big sigh.

"You okay?" I ask.

"No I kind of thought I would spend today with Nick but he did it again, he hides in his room with Joey."

I hum and think for a second, "Then, how about after eating we all spend the rest of the day somewhere fun?"

Jenny jumps up, "You're a genius! Yes, we have to go to the arcade. It's the only place we get along in."

I sit on the edge of the bed and pull her closer to me by her hips, "Sure, we can take my car."

She smiles and sits on my lap, "Thanks, you're the best." she says with a kiss on my cheek.

I smile and rest my head on her shoulder, "Anything for you."

We then heard three knocks, "Jenny? Are you in there?" Nick asked from behind the door.

Jenny jumps up and runs to the door, "Yeah, I'm here."

"Sorry, Joey and I saw the trunk open so we brought up both your suitcases, I hope you don't mind. Um.. here." He says handing Jenny her suitcases.

"Oh, you didn't have too but thanks." Jenny smiles.

Then it went quiet, just them staring at each other.

God witnessing this awkward tension brings me back to when I used to tutor at a High School.

"I guess I'll get going. Oh and Mom said food's done too" Nick says turning away.

"Wait! Do you and Joey want to come with us to an arcade after eating?"

"Really?" Nick says supprised.

"Really." Jenny confirms

"Uh, Yeah we'll go. Thanks." Nick says leaving more happier.

Now we were all walking through the mall to get to the arcade. We invited Jenny's mother but she refused saying had errands to run, so it's just us four.

"Glad to be in a mall again." Jenny comments.

"There's no mall there?" Nick asks and Jenny shakes her head a no.

"Then what do you do for fun over there?"

"I haven't had a chance to do much 'cause of school but I usually spend most my free time with Blake or Sarah, my roommate." Jenny says.

"Cool." He replies.

It went quiet again. It's been like this the entire ride.

"Here we are!" Jenny stops at a bland glass door with no signs or decorations except a sketchy steep of stairs.

"Are you sure it's not closed today?" I ask.

"Yeah come on." Jenny laughs grabbing my hand, "Careful" she adds as we walk down the stairs.

"Oh, an underground arcade" I said looking around seeing it dim with many neon lights and machines.

"Cool right? It's a bit hidden so it's usually never full. Oh, there's where we buy the tokens." Jenny says, walking to the front desk while intertwining my hands with hers.

"Hello, can we buy 2 cards with 250 credit in each." She asks the blond lady who was on a small chair arranging some cups in a cupboard.

"Yeah give me a second." She says as she has her back turned on us.

"Becca?" Joey asks as he catches up to us.

She turns slightly, "Oh Joey and Nick, what are you both doing here?"

I look up at her recognizing her name and now her voice, "Becca?" I say.

Becca stops what she's doing and turns around, "Blake? What the hell are you doing here?" she says curiously.

"Wait you both know each other?" Joey asks.

We both turn to look at him, "No." I said.

Becca looks at me confused.

"Wait, Bec, why are you here?" Joey asks.

"My friend asked if I can fill in for her today since she had a cold." She answers him. "So why are you here?"

"I came with Nick and his sister and her." He says pointing in Jenny's and I direction.

"Okay. Um, 2 cards with 250 credit in each, right? It'll be $50."

"I'll pay." Jenny says handing Becca her card.

"Alright. Here you go. Enjoy!" She says handing her the cards. "can you stay behind for a second." she says to me.

"Bye sis!" Joey yells leaving with Nick.

Jenny sends me a light smile and nod and catches up with them.
