I tried to pull myself together, but seeing my father standing there with another young man left me speechless. My heart raced faster, and I felt a mix of fear from the monster I had just encountered and despair washing over me.
My father looked as indifferent as ever, his eyes empty and devoid of emotion. He appeared as young as I could remember, barely changed over the years. He walked towards me, his movements controlled and deliberate, as if I were not worth any display of emotion from him.
"Y/n, tell me exactly why you were here," he said, his voice cold and detached. Did he even realize I had been missing for the past six months? Did he notice that I hadn't used any of his money since graduating high school? The answer was clear-he simply didn't care enough about me to notice. What was the point of me running away from home? What was the point of anything at this point?
A tumult of emotions surged within me-fear, anger, and despair. I looked at him with eyes as empty as his, mirroring his lack of connection or concern.
"My, my, it's an honor for you to finally acknowledge my existence, sperm donor," I said, my voice dripping with disdain. Hame looked surprised but wisely kept silent.
"I just asked you, why are you here?" my father repeated, his voice even colder.
"Why do I need to have a reason to be in my own home?" I shot back. "This home belongs to my mother, which means it belongs to me. The question should be: why are you here?" He remained silent, studying my face with an intensity that belied his usual detachment. Beneath his cold exterior, a flicker of warmth shimmered momentarily-but it wasn't for me.
"You look more like her than ever," he whispered, his voice tinged with melancholy.
I gave him a deadpan glare. Every time I saw him, he managed to remind me that the only reason he kept me around was because I resembled my mother. Would he have thrown me out if I hadn't reminded him of her?
Suddenly, a maniacal laugh interrupted the tense moment. I turned to see the young man who had accompanied my father, his eyes twitching with amusement.
My father composed himself and walked towards the door, leaving the man behind. The laughter continued, unsettling and unnerving.
"You're exactly like your father," the man said, grabbing my hand and pulling me closer, his other hand resting on my waist.
I was too angry at his words to care about his touch. "Take that back, or you won't live to see tomorrow," I said, my voice icy with rage.
He leaned in, whispering something in my ear that made my eyes widen in shock.
"I've missed you dearly, Miss Y/n," he said softly, before abruptly leaving.
I stood there, stunned and confused. Who was that man, and why did his words affect me so deeply? The encounter left me shaken, but I pushed aside my questions for the moment. My focus returned to my father, who had left without explaining his presence or acknowledging the turmoil he had caused.
I was left with so many questions and an overwhelming sense of fear. My mind was a whirlwind of confusion and dread.
What the hell is my father up to? What on earth is that thing on our home? Am I just dreaming is this all real?
I stumbled towards the big gate, grateful it was open, feeling scared and empty. My legs were still shaking as I raised my hand to my mouth, biting my nails out of anxiety.
Suddenly, a force tackled me from behind, almost causing me to fall. Arms encircled me, and a head rested on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry, Y/n, for not realizing how your life has been until now," Hame said, his voice full of regret. "Even though I've known you since we were young."
