The next morning, I woke up feeling surprisingly refreshed. For the first time in what felt like ages, I had a good night's sleep. No tossing and turning, no overthinking. Just restful sleep.

I got ready with a bit more enthusiasm than usual, taking care to look presentable. As I made my way down to the dining area for breakfast, I felt a sense of anticipation building up. I hoped today would be a good day.

When I entered the dining room, I saw everyone already seated, engaged in lively conversation. To my pleasant surprise, Miles had saved a seat next to him for me. He smiled warmly as I approached, and for some reason, that simple gesture made me incredibly happy.

"Good morning," Miles greeted, pulling out the chair for me.

"Good morning," I replied, feeling a warmth spread through me as I sat down.

Everyone else at the table greeted me as well. There was a lightness in the air, a stark contrast to the tension that had been present before.

"Sleep well?" Miles asked, his eyes twinkling with genuine interest.

"Yeah, actually," I said, my smile growing. "Best sleep I've had in a while."

"Glad to hear it," he said, handing me a menu. "Order whatever you like. Their pancakes are pretty good."

We fell into easy conversation, the kind that felt natural and unforced. As I glanced around the table, I noticed Alex sitting across from me, his expression unreadable. He was quiet, more subdued than usual. Arielle, sitting next to him, was chattering away, seemingly oblivious to his mood.

I pushed the thoughts of Alex and Arielle aside, focusing on the here and now. As breakfast progressed, I found myself laughing more and more, joining in on the group's jokes and stories.

At one point, Miles leaned over and whispered, "You look really happy today. It suits you."

I felt a blush creep up my cheeks but smiled gratefully at him. "Thanks, Miles. I feel pretty good."

As we continued to eat and chat, I couldn't help but feel that things were starting to look up. With Miles' kind presence, the support of my friends, and the resolve to move forward, I felt ready to embrace whatever came next.

Today was a new day, and I was determined to make the most of it.

After breakfast, the group decided to head into the city to enjoy the day. The sun was shining, and the air was filled with the promise of a good time. Kelly, Katie, Breanna, and I formed a little squad, ready to explore and make the most of our day.

We wandered through quaint streets, browsed in little shops, and took countless selfies, laughing at our silly poses and the occasional photobomb by a passerby. The vibe was light and carefree, and it felt amazing to be surrounded by such supportive and fun friends.

At one point, we found ourselves in front of a colorful mural, perfect for a group photo. We posed together, and just as Kelly was about to snap the picture, Miles managed to sneak into the frame, striking a goofy pose. The result was a hilarious photo that had us all in stitches.

"You totally ruined our photo, Miles!" Kelly exclaimed, trying to sound annoyed but failing miserably through her laughter.

"Improved it, you mean," Miles retorted with a wink.

As we moved on, Miles gently took my hand and pulled me aside. My heart jumped at the unexpected gesture, and I felt a mix of excitement and nerves flutter in my chest.

"Lana, I was wondering if you'd like to go on a proper date with me," he asked, his eyes searching mine for an answer.

I felt a smile spread across my face, and I nodded eagerly. "I'd love that, Miles."
