After our chat in the lounge room, we decided it was time to meet up with the guys for their sound check. As we made our way through the venue's maze-like corridors, I felt a flutter of excitement at the thought of seeing Alex again. Despite the whirlwind of events and emotions lately, just thinking about him brought a smile to my face.
We entered the main hall where the band was already setting up. The familiar hum of instruments being tuned and mics being tested filled the air. The boys were in their element, moving with an easy confidence born from countless rehearsals and performances.
Alex spotted me the moment we walked in. His face lit up with a wide grin, and he set down his guitar, striding over to me. The look in his eyes was one of pure joy, and it made my heart skip a beat.
"Hey, you," he said, wrapping me in a warm hug. "Missed you."
I chuckled, hugging him back tightly. "Missed you too. How's everything going?"
"Good, good," he replied, pulling back slightly to look at me. "Sound check's almost done. Just need to run through a couple more songs."
I nodded, feeling the buzz of the atmosphere around us. The rest of the band greeted us with waves and smiles, and I could tell they were just as happy to see us.
As Alex returned to the stage, I found a spot with Breanna, Kelly, and Katie to watch. Miles joined us, giving me a reassuring smile and a nod. It was a silent acknowledgment of our earlier conversation, and it made me feel a bit more at ease.
The band launched into their sound check with energy and precision. Alex's fingers flew over the strings of his guitar, his concentration and passion evident in every note. Watching him, I felt a swell of pride and admiration. He was truly in his element up there.
During a break between songs, Alex glanced over at me and flashed a quick smile. I couldn't help but grin back, feeling a warmth spread through me. Despite everything that had happened, moments like this made it all worthwhile.
As they finished their final song, Alex jumped off the stage and made his way over to me again. "All set," he said, looking pleased. "How did it sound?"
"Fantastic," I said genuinely. "You guys are going to kill it tonight."
He beamed at the compliment, reaching out to squeeze my hand. "Thanks, Lana. That means a lot."
We all made our way to the green room, the excitement for tonight's show mingling with the anticipation of what lay ahead. The band members, along with Breanna, Kelly, Katie, Miles, and I, settled in with beers in hand. The conversation naturally shifted to our next destination: Las Vegas.
"It's gonna be wild," Jamie said, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "The last city on the American leg of the tour. We have to make it count."
"No doubt," Matt agreed, raising his beer in a toast. "To Vegas!"
"To Vegas!" we all echoed, clinking our bottles together.
Alex turned to me, his expression thoughtful. "Got any plans for Vegas, Lana?"
I shrugged, trying to keep my tone light. "I guess just see the sights, maybe catch a show or two. It's going to be bittersweet, though. Last city before you guys head back to the UK."
There was a brief silence as the reality of my words sank in. Alex squeezed my hand, his eyes locking onto mine. "We'll make the most of it," he said softly. "It's not goodbye forever."
Breanna, ever the optimist, jumped in. "Absolutely! We're going to have an amazing time. Think of it as a celebration, not a farewell."
Kelly nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, and Vegas is the perfect place for that. There's so much to do and see. We'll have a blast."
