In the early morning hours, the apartment is quiet. The soft hum of the air conditioner and the distant sounds of the city waking up are the only noises breaking the silence. Tighnari and Cyno are still asleep in the other room, their rhythmic breathing barely audible through the thin walls.
Sethos and I are still nestled together on the fluffy carpet covered in blankets and pillows, his arm draped protectively around me. The warmth of his body is a comforting presence, even though I'm usually all scattered around him. Despite the early hour, I feel a sense of peace and contentment, a stark contrast to the nervous energy that had filled me the night before.
I shift slightly, careful not to wake Sethos. His grip tightens momentarily, pulling me closer, his breath warm against my ear. I freeze, trying to keep my heartbeat steady. As I lay there, I let my thoughts drift back to the events of the previous night, back to Sethos.
His touch, his words, the way he made me feel safe and cherished–all of it plays over and over in my mind. I can still feel the gentle pressure of his hand on my back, the warmth of his body next to mine. I close my eyes, savoring the memory.
The tranquility is gently disrupted by the quiet sound of Tighnari opening their bedroom door. He stretches, blinking sleepily as he surveys the room. Spotting me awake, he offers a sleepy smile and a silent wave. I return the gesture, careful not to disturb Sethos, who remains blissfully unaware of the waking world around him.
Cyno wakes next, stepping out of the room, his usual exuberance muted by the early hour. He grins at Tighnari, who rolls his eyes good-naturedly. Their silent exchange is a testament to their close bond, a comforting backdrop to the quiet morning.
"Good morning," Tighnari whispers, his voice barely audible. "How did you sleep?"
"Surprisingly well," I reply softly, glancing at Sethos. "Better than I expected, actually."
Tighnari nods, his eyes twinkling with understanding. "I wonder why." He says sarcastically, grinning at me. "You two looked cozy."
I feel a blush rise to my cheeks but manage a smile. "Yeah, it really was."
Cyno stretches and yawns, his usual energy slowly returning. "Want some breakfast?" he asks, already heading towards the kitchen.
"Sure," I reply, feeling my stomach rumble at the thought of food.
As Cyno busies himself with preparing breakfast, Tighnari settles onto the couch, giving Sethos and me a knowing look. "So, any plans for today?" he asks casually, though his eyes are sharp and observant.
I shrug, trying to appear nonchalant. "Not really. Maybe just relax and enjoy the weekend. We've been doing a lot over the last free days we had."
Tighnari nods, a small smile playing on his lips. "Sounds good. You two deserve it."
The smell of coffee and freshly cooked breakfast soon fills the air, gradually rousing Sethos from his slumber. He stirs, his eyes fluttering open as he takes in the scene around him. "Morning," he mumbles, his voice thick with sleep.
"Morning," I reply, smiling at him. "Cyno's making breakfast."
Sethos stretches, his arm around me loosening slightly. "Smells good," he says, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. "Did I miss anything?"
"Not much," Tighnari replies with a grin. "Just the usual early morning chatter."
Sethos nods, his gaze shifting to me. "You sleep okay?"
"Yeah," I say, feeling a warmth spread through me at his concern. "Thanks to you."
"Glad to hear that." He smiles at me and stretches his arms over his head. "No... nightmares?" He asks, sounding quite surprised, but also glad.
