The Proposal | Taehyun x Chaeryeong

BACKSTORY 01

Innovate University of Business & Fashion, the reputed and celebrated university of South Korea which provided an excellent guidance to ones aspiring to be successful designers or run a business.

A tall guy was walking his way through the huge university filled with tons of students like him but he felt like he didn't exist there as he felt underconfident.

"Hey buddy! How's it going?"
The guy felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked at a even taller guy behind him.

"And I thought I was tall."
The boy with glasses remarked looking at the taller guy causing him to chuckle.

"I'm Soobin."
The taller one introduced.

"Taehyun!"
The guy that wore glasses replied.

"So, are you new here?"
Soobin asked as Taehyun nodded.

"Let me fill you in on the unofficial rules of this university. "
Soobin initiated as Taehyun continued to walk.

"First, don't even think about sneaking  out. The professors are like hawks; they'll catch you everytime!"
Soobin said to which Taehyun chuckled.

"Also, you’ve got to try the donuts in the cafeteria. They’re legendary. My girlfriend swears by them."
Soobin added, causing Taehyun to smile.

"And now, for the most crucial rule." Soobin said, coming to a dramatic stop and turning to face Taehyun.

"Whatever you do, don’t cross paths with Lee Chaeryeong."

"Why’s that?" Taehyun asked, intrigued.

"She’s the most arrogant person you’ll ever meet."
Soobin said, rolling his eyes.

"Alright. I'll take care of that!"
Taehyun reassured as Soobin smiled again.

"See you around!"
Soobin said as he disappeared in the busy crowd.

Just when Taehyun took a few steps, he saw students forming a crowd. Intrigued by it, he stepped in and saw a girl and a guy.

"You think, you can cheat on me and never get caught?!"
The girl yelled at the guy.

"No one dares to mess up with me yet you cheated on me?!"
She again declared out loud. She was roaring like a queen.

"Who's that girl?"
Taehyun whispered to a guy.

"That's Lee Chaeryeong."
Taehyun looked at the boy in surprise and finally he got to see the familiar face he saw in the morning.

"Wow, so I walked towards the problem myself. Huh?"
Taehyun muttered and he saw Chaeryeong running her gaze through the crowd.

"All these boys right here. They're ready to date me, but you? Who will pick up the trash that I threw away?"
She said to he boy who had his head lowered. A smirk appeared on her face.

"Raise your hands boys. Those who want to date me."
Chaeryeong declared prompting all the guys to raise their hands in excitement while the girls rolled their eyes. Chaeryeong looked at each and every guy with satisfaction until her eyes fell on that one boy, who still didn't raise his hands. It was none other than Taehyun.

"What's this?! Go back to your classes!"
One of the professors, who noticed the crowd yelled. The students quickly scattered along with Taehyun.

Chaeryeong still had her eyes on Taehyun and she looked at her minions on her side.

"Who's that guy?"
Kayoung, one of her minions said.

"Exactly!"
Eunseo, her other minion exclaimed.

"Gotta find out about you."
Chaeryeong said with a sly smirk.

Meanwhile, Taehyun was searching for his classroom but his mind only replayed the scene where Chaeryeong was insulting that guy.

"She's impossible."
Taehyun said to himself as he walked inside a classroom.

He sat on first bench as usual as he fixed his glasses. It was a moment of excitement for him as he always loved learning new things. His excitement soon turned into disappointment when he saw a girl walking towards his direction. It was Chaeryeong. Behind her walked Kayoung and Eunseo.

Chaeryeong straight went and sat beside Taehyun. Taehyun, who remembered Soobin's warning stood up and sat on another bench.

Chaeryeong was baffled at his reaction as she again sat beside him. Before Taehyun could stand up, she held his hand and he looked at her in surprise.

"Hey, I'm trying to talk to you."
Chaeryeong said, trying to control her anger.

"But I don't want to. Now please excuse me miss."
Taehyun said politely but Chaeryeong's ego got really hurt after a guy showed no interest in her and even refused to talk to her in front of everyone. She looked around and saw her minions secretly laughing.

Chaeryeong then smiled and held Taehyun's hand suddenly. Her other hand went towards his left cheek as she pulled his face closer to her. Taehyun, who was trying to ignore Chaeryeong's presence got a big shock when he saw her holding his hand. To add more to his surprise, she even started pulling his face closer to her but stopped.

"I like you. Lee Chaeryeong likes you and I'll do everything to win over your heart!"
Chaeryeong said and parted away. Taehyun was still in a great shock after Chaeryeong's bold move while Chaeryeong turned around and started walking towards her class with a victorious smile.

"Do you really like that nerd?!"
One of her minions said and Chaeryeong glared at her.

"You have a problem with his looks?"
She asked and her minion stayed silent. She knew that Chaeryeong never judged anyone on the basis of their appearance and their financial status. She was just a rich girl whose life has always been luxurious and full of comfort which is why she was so confident and the most popular girl in the university but some thought she was really mean and rude. But one thing about her, she was really self obsessed and liked when she got attention.

"I don't like him though."
Chaeryeong said making the girls surprise.

"What? Why did you say it then?!"
Kayoung asked with surprise and Chaeryeong stopped in her track.

"I just want him to like me, like everyone else. One week, only one week and he'll beg for my love."
