As I stand in front of the restroom mirror, dabbing at the stain on my dress with water, I'm focused on making sure the spill doesn't leave a noticeable mark. Unexpectedly, the door swings open, and I glance over, only to see Nevaeh walking through.
"H-Harmony?" Nevaeh stutters, clearly startled to see me.
"Nevaeh," I reply, equally surprised. It feels like we've both seen a ghost.
Nevaeh rushes over and wraps me in a tight hug. "How are you? I've missed you. What's going on? Where have you been?" Her questions come at me rapidly, filled with genuine curiosity and warmth.
"I messed up, Vaeh," I say, my voice barely above a whisper.
"What do you mean by that?" Nevaeh questions, her brow furrowing in concern.
"The reason why you haven't heard from me is because I fell in love with Trevon, who is our enemy," I confess, my heart pounding as the words escape my lips.
"How did it happen?" Nevaeh asks her tone a mixture of curiosity and disbelief.
"Honestly, it started just from working closely together. It was all business at first, but then it became personal. That's when everything went wrong. He found out about my involvement with you guys, and I was kidnapped. To save myself, I agreed to work with them," I explain, feeling the weight of my shame as I look away.
"We'll help you get out of this situation," she says firmly, her eyes full of determination.
"What do they want from you?" she questions next, her concern deepening.
"What do you think?" I say bitterly, my voice filled with anger and despair. "They want information, leverage, anything they can use against us."
We share a knowing look, the gravity of the situation sinking in.
"Can you at least tell me that the girls are okay, alive, and safe?" Nevaeh asks urgently, her voice trembling slightly.
"Yes, Arianna is being her usual self and has made great company with the guys we're involved with. I'm taking care of Kayleigh," I assure her, hoping to provide a bit of comfort.
She grabs both of my cheeks with her hands, forcing me to look into her eyes.
"I promise you, we are going to get you out of this," Nevaeh says fiercely, her grip tightening.
"Nevaeh, I think I'm just in too deep. I know too much, and the only way I can leave is probably in a body bag at this point. Plus, I don't think Augustine nor Ezekiel will ever forgive me for my part in the kidnapping of their loved ones," I confess, my voice breaking as the reality of my situation hits me.
"You would be surprised how much Augustine likes you. With a little persuasion, I'm sure he would eventually come around," Nevaeh says, her eyes gleaming with a hint of mischief.
