Alex POV - Two weeks later (February 2019)

"Yeah coach, I'll be there. Thank you for the call." I say as I walk.

I hang up the phone and smile widely.

'Just grateful for every roster.'

"Let me go!" I hear and turn.

My eyes widen when I see a woman pulling a girl. A familiar girl.

"Michaela, I swear to god that if you don't come with me right now and shut up, you'll regret it. You want me to tell your dad that you're not listening?" The woman warns.

"Ow! You're hurting me!" Michaela says.

That makes me start walking, "Hey! She said that you're hurting her!"

The woman's head snaps to mine, "Leave us alone, this is not your business."

"I know her. So it is my business. Michaela, are you okay?" I ask.

She looks at me and looks back at the woman.

I can tell that she's scared, but looks down and nods, "I'm okay."

I go to speak, but she speaks up again, "I just wasn't listening. It's my fault."

I frown.

"You got that right, let's go." The woman says and Michaela looks at me while following the woman.

She looks so sad and scared, which worries me.

My phone rings and I look at the screen, answering.

"Hi babe."

I sigh, "Hey."

"What's wrong?" Serv asks.

"I saw Michaela."

"Really? How is she?"

"Not great from what I can tell." I say and head back towards my car.

"Why's that?"

"This woman was dragging her down the sidewalk , yelling at her, threatening her. Michaela said that she was hurting her. I tried to get involved but Michaela just lied and said that it was her fault." I sigh out as I reach my car.

"Honey, we don't know what's going on. Maybe she's a tough kid. There's nothing that we can do." He says.

I internally groan, "Maybe you're right."

"She will be okay." He says.

I bob my head, "Alright, I'm on my way home."

"See you soon. Love you."

"Love you too, bye." I say.

I hang up and look out again.

'Hopefully she's okay.'

Michaela POV - next day

"Dude, you wanted to kill the other team. It's just PE and it's just dodgeball." Sam says as she peels her shirt off in the locker room.

I shrug, "I like to win."

"That was about more than winning." She says softly.

I shrug again.

I yawn.

"Up late?" She asks.

I freeze and hesitate.

She tilts her head, "What?"

I shake my head, "Nothing. Yeah, I was studying."
