the hargreeves adoptive siblings were standing in front of their seats around the dining table waiting for reginald hargreeves, y/n looked at the table that was filled with food grace prepared.
as reginald got into his chair, he looked around for a while before commanding, "sit." followed by the children sitting silently in their seats. y/n quietly ate as she looked at five who looked like does not have an appetite.
five was looking at their father intensely as vanya and y/n exchanged a look only breaking when five stabbed his knife into the table making y/n flinch so as the other people at the table making them look at him, having their attention.
"number five?" reginald called out as five looked at him, "i have a question."
y/n looked at the scene still eating some of her food, waiting for reginald's answer, "knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules. no talking during mealtimes. you are interrupting herr carlson."
he pushed his plate aside as he spoke, "i want to time travel." reginald quickly said no to his suggestion.
this made y/n look at five, her eyebrows meeting in confusion, ignoring her reaction he added standing up, "but i'm ready. i've been practicing my spatial jumps, just like you said."
"see?" five showed, spatial jumping next to reginald to show his point.
"a spatial jump is trivial when compared with the unknowns of time travel. one is like sliding along the ice, the other is akin to descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn. "
"well, i don't get it." five commented, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"hence the reason you're not ready."
five looked at both vanya and y/n as they shook their heads but five tore his sight to them and looked at reginald again, "i'm not afraid."
"fear isn't the issue. the effects it might have on your body, even on your mind, are far too unpredictable. now, i forbid you to talk about this anymore."
five then had enough turning around and exiting the dining room, "number five! you haven't been excused!"
"he really doesn't listen to anything i tell him, huh?" y/n commented which was heard by vanya as y/n stood up muttering a sorry before following five making reginald scold her too.
"five!" y/n called out as she found him outside of the academy. she opened her arms, spatial jumping in front of him. y/n can use any ability of her siblings but she liked using five's and unlike him, she didn't even have an interest in time traveling.
