It was the same drill. The letter came and told them about lunch and the times.
The demigods went to their table as always. Nate and Remus were about to follow but the latter couldn't bring himself to go without talking to his sister.
"Go ahead," he pecked Nate's cheek.
The son of Apollo understood immediately and nodded with a soft smile. Remus watched with affection as he rushed over and threw an arm around their niece's shoulders. Rowan laughed up at him before officially introducing Jason to him.
"Hey..."
Remus looked to his side, Romy standing there. She was also watching Nate and Rowan. "Hi," he greeted. "Look...Romy, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said—"
"Yes, you should have," she cut in. Romy looked up at her brother. They may have been twins but even without the age gap they now had, Remus had always been taller. "You're right. You raised her. Not me. You know her better. That's the truth of the matter, no matter how much I wish otherwise."
"You're not mad ?"
"At you ?" She smiled and hooked her arm through his. "Never."
Remus smiled, kissing her hair. "Come on. And hey, I might know her, but that doesn't you can't learn."
They both arrived and sat down. Romy gave Rowan a smile as she settled in front of her. Rowan tentatively smiled back. Her blue eyes strayed to Remus who nodded, assuring her that they were fine.
"Here you go," Jason handed Rowan a plate. They both seemed to have fallen into the habit of exchanging who fixed plate for the other during each meal.
"Thank you, my love," she kissed his cheek.
"How long have y'all been together ?"
"It'll be a year in December," Rowan told Nate. She turned to her boyfriend but whatever she was about to say or ask was lost as she sent Jason a deadpan look. "Really ?"
"I like carrots," he put his plate down in front of him. And just to provoke her some more, looked her straight in the eyes and ate one.
"Heretic," the girl playfully scowled.
"You still don't like carrots ?" Romy asked. Rowan had always hated them growing up. She would eat any other vegetable but refused to touch carrots.
"They are the devil's food," Rowan shook her head.
Romy laughed gently. Rowan smiled at her before taking a bite of her chicken. In doing so, her tattoo was more visible. "That's a nice tattoo."
The daughter of Hermes glanced down and smiled at her wolf. "Thank you."
"Why a wolf ?"
