"Sucks to be us." Quinton begins, "How the hell do we get out?"
"Does it occur to you that I don't give one shit about you? Why would I help you?" She screams. Quinton looks pissed so I try to calm him down by holding him back but he throws me back and stands up. He grabs onto the door and shakes it violently. "Hey, hey, stop!" She yells, "I'll tell you how to get out just don't break the door! All you have to do is push the lock away from the door then pull down hard."
Quinton repeats the sequence and exits our cage. I pull Quinton back into our cell and close the door. "Who put you up to this? Why would you help us leave if you don't like us?" I ask.
"Because, eye for an eye, I get you out you get me out." She says. I nod and unlock our door, I walk up slowly to the guard in the front of the building and thrust my fists into his back knocking him down, Quinton behind me stomps on his head to knock him out. I grab his taser and keys, Quinton grabs his gun. I unlock the girls cage and gesture her to exit, "There you go, uhh..." I begin.
"Katie, my name is Katie." She responds. She draws a gun and pulls some cloth out to cover our faces. We each get ready but Quinton stops us right before we leave, "What about that sad man in the corner over there?"
"Oh ya, I almost forgot about him." Katie says. She unlocks his cell and whispers something into his ear. He jumps up and runs out of the building and screams as guards chase him. We walk out after quietly. And before we know it were at the wall.
"We'll never get past the wall." I say.
"Not if we blend in." Katie begins, "I'll be right back." She walks into the main armory and comes out in a military suit carrying two more. Quinton and I change and we are off to the city. As paranoid as I am I keep walking and don't look back.
"What are we going to do when we get to the city?" I ask.
"We're gonna stop the siege." Katie says.
"How? It's us against them."
"Well we have to try, what else can we do, live in the wasteland?"
"Or in the our old bunker." Then I remember Quinton has an entire family that he needs to support. "Quinton, what about your parents and your sisters?"
"They can't know about this now. I think that it would be better for everyone to live in a city, but not a battleground." He responds.
"Family man huh? I had one." Katie says sadly, "They died during the first quakes that began this whole thing."
"I remember the quakes," I say sharply, "I was in a tree when they hit and only a few minutes later my brother was killed in a car accident caused by the aftershock." We go silent and continue walking. After a while we decide to set up camp. I haven't eaten in a while so it's nice to finally have a snack.
"So what's this whole no money thing Katie?" Quinton asks.
"Well now the economy runs of their own money. You either barter something of the same value or price, or pay win coins produced by the government. But this city has it figured out. No discounts, no giving away money, and nothing that needs money from the government, best of all no taxes. They got rid of them because all the big companies pay the government everything they need." Katie explains, "They even have their own military. Maybe they will help us." Quinton falls asleep after and I decide to go to bed as well.
