Ghost

Ghost stole glances at Cade as they drove in silence. Her brown hair wrapped up in a tight bun, showing off her beautiful slender neck. Her gaze fixated out the window and not looking in his direction. She hadn't uttered a word the entire trip, and Ghost assumed he knew the reason. Looking at her he noticed she had lost just a little weight. She didn't weigh much as it was, but her days protest of going without food showed in her high cheek bones which had sunken slightly making her jaw line even more defined and sharp. It was his fault for her being this way. It hadn't been his intention. She just was challenging him in ways he had not been before. Not just in tactical skills, but in the way she made Ghost doubt his self-control.

'She threw the competition, and we all know it' Soap had gone on and on at lunch the day of the range match. Soap talked about how he had been with her on the range and should have been able to manipulate that shot easy. Ghost had silently agreed since he had also watched her and knew she should have been easily able to take on target. Anyone who knew guns knew a shot didn't drop that dramatically unless a trigger had been yanked. Every sniper knew about breath control, trigger squeeze, and follow through for a clean shot. They all concluded she had thrown the competition and Soap had been demanding a rematch.

Between the mat room and the building clearing, having her pretty little neck in his fingers and body against Ghost's, it had been a challenge for him to not press a kiss on her full beautiful lips. But if he knew if he did, he would never let go. Ghost wanted to wrap himself around her and feel the warmth of her body against his. Every time she entered a room, Ghost felt my stomach flutter nervously. She was arousing. He had hoped in the mat room or gym she had not seen how arousing she was to him. Maybe she did and that is where the glares came from. Her flirty smart comments did nothing to help ease the temptation that was Her.

She has no idea who Ghost truly was. She has only met the angery and aggressive which was the worst part of him. However, it was the side of him he used as a defense. Allowing people in allowed for himself to get hurt. In this job, getting hurt was common. Physically, mentally, and emotionally. 'Have I fallen out of her graces so far?' Cade catches Ghost looking her direction, "Don't fuck up." The words slipped out of his mouth before Ghost has a chance to wrangle them in. 'Fuck'

They both exit the van and circle to the back just down from the target. Ghost stops in his tracks. Guards. Two heavily armed guards are walking parallel from them across the street.
Suddenly Ghost grabs Cade and spin her around, the only way to distract everyone in this moment is to attempt to play it off and pray it works. Ghost presses himself against Cade and puts on his best drunk impression while flirting in Spanish. His face is inches from hers and lips graze hers from under the mask. Even in the dim light, her grey eyes shimmer and Ghost can't help but be entranced by them.
Cade is startled though, "Play along and they will move on by" Ghost whispers in a deep and soft voice so as to not be heard. Cade catches on quickly and plays along. Faking a smile and giggle. That smile shot through Ghost like fire and ignited his soul. Even if it was faked, he wanted to see it more. He wanted to be the one to make her smile that way. Cade places her hand on Ghosts arm and runs it over his body. 'Fuck, this feels good.' The urge to tear off my mask and kiss her is hard to control. She grinds her hips into Ghost, causing a shock wave to go through him and he feels himself start to pulse and grow. Ghost backs his hips off slightly hoping she doesn't notice his arousal. Turning her head gently Ghost nuzzles her neck and hears an uncontrollable giggle escape causing her throat, causing him to flush and smile against her skin. How deeply Ghost wished this wasn't a mission, but rather the two of them back on base and alone together. But he knew she would most likely be avoiding him back on base. Trying to stay far away due to his actions.
Cade responds with the guard's location, and they discuss options quietly once the guards are out of earshot. Ghost's eyes transfixed on her lips as she speaks. Longing to hear his name on those lips. She stops speaking and stares at him with her big round eyes. Realizing how close he still is to her Ghost snaps up and they begin to plot intercepting the guards the next block over. Creeping through several yards they both take cover as the guards round the corner and come close. They stop short to speak with the guards back at the house. All clear. They fell for the ploy. The guards begin walking past as Cade and Ghost quietly come up behind and grab them. Ghost's knife sinks like butter into the first guard's jugular, blood immediately pouring quickly from the wound. He looks to Cade and see she had sliced through her guard's throat. His knees were buckling, and he falls face first to the ground choking on his blood. The only noise that can be heard is the blood gargling from their throats in their last few seconds. Cades eyes had changed from big and round to narrow and focused. Savage with a serious expression. The sight of it made Ghost smile.

They cut back through several yards and head to the guard house, snaking their way around the back where a normally open window had been reported by undercover units. Cade goes first, Ghost gives her a lift through the window before jumping up and trying to be as quiet as he can through it. Seeing Cade is posted up in defense, Ghost wants her to know where he is, but deep down he also just want to feel her again, so he places a free hand on her waist and trace it as he passes to her side. Her back stiffening and he notices a shiver run through her. The corner of my lip crinkled, 'So I'm not the only one feeling something'.

Continuing down the hall, this house couldn't have had worse guards. Three are occupying the living room and seem to be completely entranced by the tv. One looks over just as Ghost raises to shoot, and the others are taken out by Cade within seconds. They wouldn't have even known what happened. They make their way around and up a narrow set of stairs. Old and wooden boards, one protests under Ghosts weight and they both pause to listen. Worried it might alert others to them. Ghost looks back and Cade who has a devilish smile on her self -satisfied face and mouths 'Fat ass' back up at him. A smirk finds its way onto his face, hidden by the mask. However he maintains control of his eyes and glares back, 'If only you knew the things, I would do to you and that smart mouth'  Ghost want to say, but instead they continue.

At the top of the stairs, Ghost gives Cade the opportunity to make the call-in terms of which room to hit. She makes her choice, and they execute. Upon entry, finding a guard and our target. Ghost and Cade subdue the guard as well as the target before moving onto the other rooms. Upon entry to the first bedroom, it's a rough sight. One that erupts anger into Ghost immediately. Young women throughout the bedroom. Chained to walls. Dirty. Abused. Some doubled up in small twin beds. The room smelled stale and felt dirty. These young girls living in their own waste and fear continuously.

The look on Cades face was haunted as she passed back around Ghost to clear the next room. She was somewhere else entirely. Her eyes giving a familiar thousand-yard stare and a look of regret and sadness plagued her.
Despite this, they continue to the next room. Cade opens the door and, fully expecting her to breach the door and make a full entry, Ghost about run into the back of her. She is frozen in place, and he sees where her gaze. Over her shoulder he sees her flashlight had landed on an enemy guard in the midst of raping a young girl. Everything moved in slow motion, with Cade being in front of Ghost, he was unable to react with his gun without putting her in crossfire. The guard grabs for his gun and gets a shot off, snapping Cade out of her trance, and narrowly missing Ghost.  The sound of a pistol hitting the floor echoes loudly and in the same moment she is across the room, sinking her knife into the guard with such force and repetition that it even worried me a bit. Once Cades rampage was done, we collected our target and retreated to the van. Everything about Cades demeanor had shifted. Her body more rigid. Jaw grinding and flexing as her eye, unreadable were fixated wherever she was heading. The entire trip back she stared out the window, lips pursed and eyes distant.

Whatever was going through her mind was haunting her every thought. Ghost assumed it had something to do with her past. It was something he wanted to know. Ghost wanted to know her. But. He realized had done everything possible to drive her away. It was his custom. Self sabotage. Never let anyone close and push those away who try.
