Ghost

Ghost was exhausted. The last several hours had been tortured to stay up, but he knew it was the only way to quickly start adjusting to the time zone.

He laid in bed unable to keep his eyes open any longer, tired but his mind raced.
Ghost didn't like Cade sleeping on the couch for two reasons. One. He wanted her comfortable. Two. And more heavily on his mind, if someone broke in. He had no way of protecting her. At least if he was down there, he could be the first line of defense.
Not to mention he tried to be a gentleman...sometimes.

'I should just bring her up with me.' Ghost pondered, 'At least that way she's comfortable and if someone comes in, we hear them together.'
The idea quickly dissipated. Though they had become friendlier towards one another in the past few weeks, Ghost doubted she would be keen on sharing sleeping quarters.
He tried pushing those thoughts from him mind and concentrated on his breathing until he could fully drift off.

The next morning came all too quick. The weather was a gloomy overcast, and the sky was still dark when Ghosts alarm rang. He had managed to sleep soundly through the entire night.
The smell of fresh coffee lofted through the air as he made his way down the stairs and heard Cade moving around.

"Mornin'." He said, looking at Cade in the kitchen. She looked worn out. "Not sleep much?" He asked.
"New environment and the time change are killers." She answered, her voice was gravelly.
"Told you to take the bed."
"It wasn't the couch." Her voice flared in annoyance. Ghost raised his hands and backed away, turning to pour himself a mug.

"The target location is roughly twenty-five minutes from here." Ghost spoke as he took a seat at the tiny corner table. "We will go scout today and get a general idea of the location. Some back roads will drop us off roughly a mile away from the compound and we will just have to walk in."

"We need groceries." Cade cut in quickly. Ghost raised his eyebrow and continued, "After the hike in, we will find an elevated area which would grant you a clear sight picture with your scope. Then let's trace the facility and see how it is set up. It shouldn't be over large so today should be short." Ghost took a sip of coffee and glanced at Cade who wore a look of hatred for life currently. "And then we will get groceries on the way home."

Her eyes flicked to his quickly, "We need food now."
'Coming from the gal who wouldn't eat for days.' Ghost rolled his eyes. "We will stop somewhere on the way."

Both Cade and Ghost finished getting ready within a few minutes and hit the road. Cade made him stop at a bakery for some coffee and pastries.

"You're a sweet tooth?" Cade looked at Ghost who had ordered some sort of berry tart and a chocolate croissant. "Probably better than your fried cheese." He responded with a smirk. Cades grumpy attitude in the morning was somewhat entertaining to him.
"It's a sweet cheese fritter." She responded quickly, "It's traditional."
Ghost was thankful for the mask. If she saw the smile, he had she would probably find the closest chair to break over his head.

They finished eating in silence as Ghost drove, winding his way through a dense forest path. The road growing more and more narrow as they went until trees and bushes were scraping both sides of the vehicle. "We are here." Ghost put the truck in park, grabbed binos, and stopped out of the car.
Together they proceeded quietly through the forest. Picking their way through delicately. Attempting to avoid heavy underbrush which would give them away audibly and skirting large open areas which would be a visual give away.
After roughly a half hour, they caught a glimpse of a chain link fence in the distant. They slowed their pace and began to look around, they needed to find Cade a branch she could shimmy up for a decent shot, without being spotted.
