I woke up early with Sam, feeling the crisp morning air bite at my skin. The world outside was quiet, the first light of dawn casting a serene glow over the riverbank. The cold air mingled with the mist rising from the river, creating an almost magical atmosphere. Sam and I stepped out of the tent, and I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of it all.

"Man, this place is incredible," Sam whispered, his breath visible in the cold air.
As we walked towards the river, we spotted Derek and his friends already there, doing push-ups and crunches on the bank. Their muscular physiques glistened with dew, making them look like they belonged on the cover of a fitness magazine.
"Hey, Ethan, wanna join them?" Sam asked, nudging me with an elbow.
I hesitated, not being much of a fitness enthusiast. But before I could come up with an excuse, Derek spotted us and waved us over. "Come on, guys! Join the fun!"
Feeling cornered, I reluctantly agreed. We walked to the riverbank where Derek was already in the middle of his workout. The air was filled with the sound of exertion and the rhythmic counting of reps.
"How many push-ups can you do, Ethan?" Derek asked, a challenging grin on his face.
I shrugged, feeling out of place. "Uh, not sure. Maybe fifteen?"
Sam jumped right into the exercise, but I stood awkwardly, unsure of what to do. Derek, noticing my hesitation, approached me with surprising patience. "Here, let me show you the right form."
I followed Derek's instructions and started my push-ups. I managed about fifteen before my arms gave out, but Derek and his friends cheered me on, appreciating my effort. Despite feeling like a fish out of water, I started to enjoy the camaraderie.
Exhausted, I sat near the river, savoring the cool breeze. My eyes wandered and suddenly locked onto Angelica, who was watching me from a distance. Determined to impress her, I got back up and resumed my push-ups on a large rock by the river.
"I can do this," I muttered to myself, pushing through the fatigue.
But as I strained to complete my set, my hands slipped, and I fell off the rock into the icy river. The water was freezing, shocking my system. Derek and his friends laughed, thinking it was just another funny mishap.
"Get out of there, Ethan! You look like a drowning rat!" Derek shouted, laughing.
But my laughter turned to panic as I realized I couldn't swim. I flailed in the water, my limbs numb from the cold, struggling to stay afloat. The current started to pull me away from the bank, and my panic grew.
"Help! I can't swim!" I shouted, my voice tinged with terror.
Everyone's amusement quickly turned to alarm. Derek's friends scrambled to find a rope, while Sam took off running. My heart sank, feeling abandoned.
