Confronting the Truth
The following morning, Jeff woke up feeling emotionally exhausted. His sleep had been restless, haunted by dreams that were a tangled mess of his present turmoil and fragmented memories of his past. As he lay in bed, his phone buzzed with notifications. Reluctantly, he picked it up and saw that the group chat with his friends was overflowing with messages of concern and sympathy.
Us: Jeff, are you okay? We saw the news. 😢
Perth: I can’t believe this happened. Let us know if you need anything.
Lily: Stay strong, Jeff. We're all here for you.
Jeff sighed, his heart heavy with the weight of their concern. Then, a message from Tom caught his attention.
*Tom: Guys, check this out. It’s about Bible and the rumors.
Tom had shared a link to a news article. Jeff’s heart pounded as he hesitated for a moment before clicking on it.
Businessman Bible Wichapas Denies Rumors; Claims He Is Not the Father and Will Take DNA Test
Jeff's eyes scanned the article, his emotions a mix of hope and skepticism. The article detailed Bible's public denial of the rumors. He had vehemently stated that he was not the father of Jane's child and that he would undergo a DNA test to prove his innocence.
Bible was quoted saying, "I categorically deny the rumors. I am not the father of Jane's child, and I am committed to taking a DNA test to clear my name and put these false accusations to rest."
Jeff felt a surge of conflicting emotions. Part of him wanted to believe Bible, to trust that he was telling the truth. But another part of him was deeply skeptical, scarred by the betrayal he had already endured.
As he continued reading, his phone buzzed with a call from Justin.
“Hey, Jeff. Did you see the news?” Justin asked, concern evident in his voice.
“Yeah, I saw it,” Jeff replied, his voice flat.
“What do you think? Do you believe him?”
Jeff hesitated. “I don’t know, Justin. I want to believe him, but after everything… I just don’t know.”
After the call, Jeff felt an overwhelming need for clarity, for some form of truth that could help him navigate the chaos his life had become. He decided to take a walk in the park, hoping the fresh air and natural surroundings would provide some solace.
As he strolled through the park, lost in thought, he noticed a familiar car parked near the entrance. His heart skipped a beat as he recognized it Bible’s car. Standing beside the car was Bible, looking anxious and expectant.
"Jeff," Bible called out as soon as he saw him.
Jeff froze, his emotions a whirlwind of anger, hurt, and a faint glimmer of hope.
Bible approached him, his eyes filled with desperation. "Jeff, please listen to me. I will prove to you that I am innocent. The news is false. I had nothing to do with Jane, and I will take the DNA test to clear my name."
Jeff’s eyes burned with unshed tears. "You expect me to believe that? After everything?"
"Yes," Bible said firmly. "I know I’ve made mistakes, but I swear to you, this is not one of them. Please, just give me a chance to prove it."
Jeff shook his head, feeling the weight of betrayal pressing down on him. "You were with her for three whole months. How am I supposed to just forget that?"
