Chapter Two

"Kim Sunoo? Come with me please."

Sunoo stood and nodded following the nurse leading him to another room lined with tables and chairs there was only one table left as the others were full with other testers getting their blood drawn. Sunoo sat down and pulled up his sleeve for the nurse in front of him, needles made him anxious so he looked down at the table and focused on the fibers that were sticking out of the tablecloth to take his mind off the fact that a stranger was taking his blood.

Sunoo stood once the nurse was done, he was told to wait a few moments in another room this time by himself there was nothing in the room except for a single chair and a small metal table bolted to the floor he waited there for what felt like hours, but couldn't have possibly been more than ten minutes before a doctor walked in with his family this made Sunoo nervous. The doctor walked in took the single chair and sat down in his hand he placed two forms on the table and a pen. "Kim Sunoo, I am Dr. Min I wish I could say this under better circumstances but it's nice to meet you." Sunoo nodded back as a chill ran down his spine his sister placed her hand on his shoulder and he looked back at her before looking toward the doctor. " Your results came back positive for the X gene."

Sunoo's heart stopped and at that moment he felt his whole life crumble around him the hand on his shoulder tightened and the cry from his mom fell on deaf ears as Dr. Min kept talking about how he was now a freak. "In front of you are some forms you and your family need to sign one is for you Sunoo since we will be testing on you I need you to sign off on this but if you don't sign the other form is for your family to make you a ward of the state then you will be in my care and it won't matter what you want. I'll give you time to decide I need to give someone else their results so I'll be back in five minutes." Dr. Min left the room and Sunoo broke down turning into his sister's hold he buried his face in her neck and bawled like a baby he felt his dad lay a hand on his shoulder and squeeze as he held his mom who was also crying.

Five minutes later the door opened again this time Dr. Min wasn't alone behind him four muscle-clad men walked in wearing riot gear without the shields. "So what is the plan are you becoming a ward of the state or will you willingly sign?" The doctor looked at Sunoo and then at his family members Sunoo didn't move neither did his sister but he heard hesitant footsteps Sunoo turned his head to see his father standing at the table picking up the pen. " What are you doing?" His mom yelled grabbing her husband's arm, "You can't sign that he's your son, please." She cried Sunoo's father gently pulled his arm away from her and signed the paper giving his only son up as a ward of the state, the Doctor clapped once and snatched the paper from Sunoo's dad and checked his signature happy with what he saw he smiled and motion for the men to grab Sunoo.

Sunoo was grabbed by all four men he screamed as he was dragged away reaching for his sister as if she could save him Sunoo tried to fight back once the men dragged him through to an empty room kicking one of the guards who lost their hold on him but unfortunately, the others didn't let him go. Scared Sunoo screamed again only this time he was met with a strong and painful electrical current that stunned him into silence he was hit once again and the world went dark around him. When Sunoo awoke he was on a bus in handcuffs uncomfortably digging into his wrist blearily Sunoo looked around and saw ten others on the bus sitting in the same position all seemed to be in different states of awareness

"Where are we going? I want to go back with my family, I never got to say goodbye." Sunoo heard all around him but couldn't utter a word himself his mouth felt dry and his tongue kept sticking to the roof of his mouth.

Being in and out of consciousness for what felt like hours Sunoo finally felt the bus slow to a halt, it was dark outside when they left he remembered the sun being up it was midday how far out of town had they taken them? Sunoo thought looking out of the window he saw nothing but a deep forest that went on for miles. "Single file and step out of the bus." Sunoo heard one of the guards yell he stayed seated as he watched everyone else line up and step off the bus, as he stood in his peripheral Sunoo saw him still seated he seemed to have the same idea, but before Sunoo could say anything the guard outside yelled for them to hurry.
