Sunoo's eyes fluttered open, the harsh light of the sterile room stabbing at his consciousness. The pain in his head was a relentless drumbeat, and as he tried to move, he realized he was restrained. Straps dug into his wrists, and his legs felt like lead.

Dr. Kim leaned over him, his expression devoid of any warmth. His eyes were like twin voids, absorbing all light. Sunoo's heart raced. What had they done to him? Why was he here?

"Welcome back," Dr. Kim said, his voice a monotone. "You've been through quite an ordeal, Sunoo. But don't worry, we're just ensuring your safety."

Safety? Sunoo's mind raced. Memories collided—a banging noise, a warm tray of food, and then nothing. Had he been drugged? Dr. Kim's smile sends shivers down his spine.

He tried to speak, but his throat was dry. The doctor's gloved hand moved toward his ear, and Sunoo glimpsed the glint of metal. Panic surged. They were implanting something—a tracker, perhaps? As the cold device pressed against his skin, Sunoo's thoughts raced. Escape. He needed to escape. But how? The room blurred as Dr. Kim's smile widened. "Rest now, Sunoo," he murmured. "We'll be watching." And with that, darkness swallowed him again, leaving only the echo of his chilling words.

When Sunoo woke up again he was in his room he sat up but the movement made him wince the area where the tracker was placed was making his skull throb. He pushed himself up, the bed creaking under his weight. The room was still sterile, still suffocatingly white. His stomach growled, a desperate plea for sustenance, But paranoia gnawed at him. Dr. Kim's smile haunted his thoughts—what if they'd poisoned the food? What if every morsel held a hidden toxin?

Sunoo swung his legs over the edge of the bed, wincing as pain shot through his temples. He needed to find a way out. But first, he needed to survive. The door slot banged open again Sunoo groand, and a tray appeared—a bland breakfast, neatly arranged. Sunoo eyed it warily. He picked up the fork, hesitated, then set it down. His headache intensified. The tracker pulsed a vicious rhythm. Sunoo's resolve hardened. He wouldn't be a pawn in their game. He set the full tray back on the slot and laid back down his swimming head was making him nauseous all Sunoo wanted to do now was sleep.

He closed his eyes and thought about Min-Gi, his sister, hell even his parents how his dad could sign him away so easily, how if he ever got out would Min-Gi still be there for him for fucks sake he was a mutant freak now what if his mutations leave him unrecognizable. Sunoo started to tear up his life would be completely different now he was no longer a normal Kim Sunoo but a mutant Sunoo marked and hunted down for life.

A few moments later a guard came to his room to retrieve him the guard looked at the still-full tray then back to Sunoo, "You won't last long if you don't eat." No longer facing Sunoo the guard walked out and Sunoo followed. "Where are we going?" Sunoo followed the guard down the stairs where he heard other voices chattering the further downstairs they went the louder it got, before they got to the main floor the guard stopped and pointed towards a room down the empty corridor all the doors on this hall were closed. Sunoo looked at the guard who impassively looked toward the direction he was pointing in Sunoo followed anxiety making him bite the inside of his cheek.

When he entered the room Sunoo saw it wasn't empty on the wall was a long chalkboard with the alphabet in cursive lining the top and bottom, Dr. Kim standing in front of it leaning over the podium and looking at the nine other people in the room, they were the other boys who were on the bus. They all turned back to look at Sunoo before turning back to the doctor there was one seat left second to the end near the barred window the guy with long hair was sitting at the very end looking out of the window. When Sunoo sat down he didn't acknowledge him just kept staring out the window like he was watching something no one else could see.

" Now that we are all here, I wanted to review some things with you and make some introductions." Dr. Kim spoke as four other doctors walked in with two more guards." These are my colleagues Dr. Min who will be your psychologist, Dr. Seo-He our physician-scientist, Dr. Park your geneticist, and last but not least Dr. Jin your neurologist accompanying them are the two heads of security Mr. Tak and Mr. Yoeh." As Dr. Kim introduced everyone they all nodded hello straight-faced.

Dr. Kim smiled at them all but it didn't reach his eyes after introducing them they all walked out and Dr. Kim continued. " Rules are simple all doors are locked from midnight to six, the cafeteria is downstairs only open twice a day from eleven to one and six to eight so if you don't eat that's on you, power usage is forbidden except for the designated areas where you are monitored. Any questions?" He looked each of us in the eye before nodding and walking out of the room.

Everyone was left in silence sitting in their chairs someone on the far right stood the force pushing his chair back as he walked in front of everyone, he was tall and startingly pale he almost seemed like royalty as he looked down at them his cold demeanor was reflected in his ice blue eyes that made an appearance after he pushed his bangs from covering his face. A set of thick black eyebrows marred his face. "Sung-Hoon." he introduced looking at everyone, "Ice manipulation, twenty-two." He sat down and there was a brief silence, another person stood he made his way to the front of the room a pinched expression on his face making him look funny even if that wasn't his intention he was also tall but not as tall as Sung-Hoon but more well built his hair was a greyish white.

"Strong, I'm strong I mean, my name is Jay also twenty-two." Jay stuttered out then walked back to his chair. Other people stood and introduced themselves some with powers and others without when it was Sunoo's turn a few people looked at him expectantly but what caught his attention, was the guy next to him also turned around for the first time obsidian eyes bore into him as he stood up front. "Sunoo, I don't know what I have, and nineteen." Sunoo looked around the room to shake off the boy staring at him, smiled shyly then sat down he felt eyes following him but when he looked back no one was looking in his direction.

The boy next to him stood and walked to the front. "Ni-ki, eighteen, I can communicate with the dead." He seemed to only look at Sunoo as he spoke.

"The dead, As in ghost?" Jay stood and yelled panic on his face as he looked at Ni-ki warily the others also looked concerned, but Ni-ki didn't look at them he only kept his eyes on Sunoo as if he only wanted to know what Sunoo thought. Intrigued Sunoo stood and walked closer. "Is there one with us right now?" Sunoo asked it was like Ni-ki was drawing him in standing an arm's length apart he wanted to be closer and hear Ni-ki's baritone voice right in his ear, but he held back he barely knew this kid.

Ni-ki looked behind Sunoo to the corner of the room then looked back and shook his head yes. Behind him, Sunoo heard Jay curse and storm out of the room a few others following behind. Sunoo watched as everyone left the room except for Ni-ki, Sung-Hoon, and him, "Ghost huh, that's it?" Sung-Hoon scoffs and walks out leaving an icy chill that had Sunoo rubbing his arms for warmth. "I think it's cool, you know being able to talk to them you're never truly alone." Sunoo looked at Ni-ki waiting on bated breath for the boy to say something he never did he just stood there staring before walking away Ni-ki's arm brushed against Sunoo's as he walked past, the touch lingered until Sunoo moved making his way out and downstairs where everyone else was.
