Sung-Hoon dropped his chopsticks as Sunoo sat down, "Damn Wonnie you didn't have to fuck him up like that!" Jake laughed. Sunoo scoffed and stood to walk away when Sung-Hoon grabbed his arm the chill penetrated his hoodie causing goose flesh to erupt everywhere Sunoo shivered and Sung-Hoon let go, but he sat down. "Lavender eyes?" Hee-Seung sounded Sunoo looked at him and nodded. "Can you do anything yet?" he asked eyes shining with excitement for the answer. Jung-Won shook his head no and Jake started laughing again, "I can't fucking believe it, so what you have a fetish for getting hurt or something. All it took was one hit and I used my mutation." Hee-Seung's eyes cut to Jake the threat in them imminent Jake looked away and began to stuff his face so he wouldn't be able to talk again.

"Are you okay?" Sung-Hoon asked concerned etching his features for only a moment before falling away, his face went stoic as he looked at Jung-Won and then to Hee-Seung. "Is this some type of fucked up initiation? Beating on the weak kids to make the time pass by faster?" Sung-Hoon questioned the air around them began to chill Sunoo could see his breath with how cold it was getting. "Hey! "A guard yelled walking over to them he pulled out a metal baton pointing it at their table, "Don't do that mutant shit here it's only in designated areas. If I catch you again we will have a problem." The guard shouted tapping the table with his baton to emphasize his statement.

The dining hall went silent as the guard walked back to his post, Sung-Hoon excused himself clearing his tray before leaving the dining hall, Sunoo was hungry so he began to eat scarfing down his rice and seared meat. No one talked as Sunoo finished his meal and excused himself, he left the dining hall heading for the stairs where he spotted Ni-Ki standing on the landing with his back toward Sunoo, he seemed to be mid-conversation when he suddenly stopped. Ni-Ki turned and looked at Sunoo the shadow of a smile hidden on his face as he pushed his hair back. Sunoo walked up the stairs taking a deep exhale before coming to a stop in front of Ni-Ki, Sunoo took him in his curly shoulder-length hair and his eyes black as carbonado diamonds drawing Sunoo in he didn't want to look away but ultimately had to when Ni-Ki spoke.

"Going upstairs? Do you want to walk together?" He gestured with a nod, Sunoo answered with a quiet yes and let Ni-Ki take the lead. They walked in silence for a while matching each other's pace every other step their shoulders would briefly touch and the butterflies in Sunoo's stomach would flutter making him feel giddy. "Are you okay with them doing that to you? If it is some weird initiation ritual, leave those people alone." He said sternly, "I don't believe it's some ritual, I think they are trying to see what I can do. That's all Hee-Seung is asking about, and Jung-Won said it's better than what  Dr. Jin will do to me." Ni-Ki stopped walking.

"Sunoo, getting beaten isn't the only way to uncover your mutation." Sunoo stopped at the top of the stairs and turned back. "What are the other ways?" Ni-Ki slowly ascended the stairs. "One way and probably the best way is to get your heart racing there are a few ways I can think of, getting your adrenaline pumping, and endorphins racing." He took a step for each word he enunciated, coming to the final step Ni-Ki stopped again mere inches away, they were now eye to eye and Sunoo swore he could hear his heart beating like a drum, and his face became hot.

Sunoo tried to keep eye contact with Ni-Ki but when he licked his lips Sunoo couldn't help himself he glanced down to them, "The other ways?" Sunoo breathed out pulling his concentration back to what was being said. Ni-Ki took the final step and was on the landing standing next to Sunoo he looked down at Sunoo's mouth and then back at his eyes Sunoo licked his lips waiting for the answer. "That's the only way I know that doesn't involve you getting hurt." He ended before walking away Sunoo didn't even notice but they were on their floor already, Ni-Ki walked ahead of him not looking back until they got to their respective rooms Ni-Ki walked into his first standing in the doorway. "If you want I can help you, all you have to do is ask." He said before entering his room and closing the door.

Sunoo stood there for a moment looking at Ni-Ki's closed door he turned when he heard someone clear their throat. Sung-Hoon had walked up to Sunoo's room without him noticing. "You know he only wants to get close to you because you don't know what you can do yet," he stated as he leaned against Sunoo's open door, "Isn't that what Hee-Seung, Jung-Won, and Jake are doing anyways," Sunoo stated before walking into his room standing at the closet Sunoo took off his hoodie. "Yeah, but I just don't trust him." Sung-Hoon sneered, Sunoo scoffed " And I should trust you instead?" Sunoo questioned taking off his shirt. Sung-Hoon seemed to pause in what he was going to say Sunoo looked at him through his bangs a teasing smile playing across his features. "Like what you see?" He asked reaching for his sleeping shirt when he felt a cold sensation on his ribs. Sunoo jumped—when did he walk over? He asked himself, Sung-Hoon placed his hands back on his ribs helping him numb the ache. "I would if it wasn't so bruised up." He said so casually like he didn't just admit to liking Sunoo's body, "Try to be more careful, It won't be worth it in the end if you can't fight back." He stepped away and Sunoo slipped his shirt on, Sung-Hoon eyed Sunoo for a moment longer his cold blue eyes seemed to be searching for something before he finally turned away with a goodnight exiting the room and closing the door behind him.

Sunoo washed his face and brushed his teeth before finally lying down, the clock on the desk shined bright at nine pm Sunoo thought it was early, but only after a few moments of his head on the pillow, did his eyes begin to flutter with drowsiness.

"Beep...beep...beep" Sunoo heard while he slept, the repetitive sound was driving him out of R.E.M and ruining his dream. The beep sounded again closer to his ear this time and Sunoo tried to swat it away only to realize he couldn't move, his wrists and ankles felt weighed down by the cold sting of metal keeping his limbs in place. His eyes shot open with fear the same stinging metal was also wrapped around his head stopping him from looking around the sterile room that wasn't his. Sunoo heard a door open and close and footsteps. "What the hell is going on? Who are you?" Sunoo shouted trying and failing to pull his hands loose, he felt his heart pounding against his chest as a pair of cold hands ran through his hair he felt a puff of air near his ear, "Kim Sunoo, how wonderful it is to meet you I'm Dr. Park." She said coming around the table he was lying on so he could see her face, Dr. Park stood over him her round face and phoenix eyes bearing into him, Sunoo was scared and Dr. Park seemed to like it.

" Kim Sunoo, I read in your chart that you don't have a mutation but looking at you now all bruised up I'd have to say something was amiss." She grabbed a cart in the far corner covered in surgical instruments and wheeled it over close enough to where Sunoo saw the light glinting off the scalpels. "So besides the purple eyes and white roots, what can you do?" She asked waiting expectantly, but Sunoo didn't answer his eyes were fixed on the tray next to him. Dr. Park snapped her fingers in his face catching his full attention. "I asked you a question." Sunoo shook his head as much as he could with the strap holding him in place. Dr. Park turned away with a smile on her face, she eyed the tray before reaching for a syringe filled with a neon green liquid. "Well, we will just have to see about that." She said as she grabbed Sunoo's arm and stuck the needle inside of him.
