New Orleans was stunning. We had been here for two days now and hadn't even explored everything we wanted to yet. We had just had lunch at Antoine's Restaurant in the French Quarter. Then tonight we planned to hit up The Dungeon, a local bar. I wasn't big on drinking, but Emerson said he could use a drink or two and I didn't want to stop him from enjoying himself. This trip wasn't all about me. It was about us and our little slice of alone time in another place that wasn't right up all of his brothers' asses.
It had taken a bit of convincing, but I managed to talk Em into going with me to the Lafayette Cemetery No.2 to do a photoshoot with me. What could I say? I was a huge Originals fan, so being in New Orleans was a dream come true. I wanted to fan girl and take photos everywhere, but I wouldn't force Emerson to. Plus this trip wasn't for my little fan-girl heart. "You know I hear New Orleans has real vampires?" Em spoke softly holding my hand.
"Well, don't tell Remy. He'll come here and never want to leave until he finds one and begs to become like them." I giggle. I knew I was right and he did as well.
"Secret is safe with me. As long as you don't run off to find Niklaus." He gave me a cheeky grin.
"Hush. I love you way more than a fictional character."
We sat up the tripod with my phone as I did a couple of photos alone and then a few of Emerson alone before we took couple of photos. When I was done living out my little fangirl dream we strolled the graveyard hand in hand for a little while. "Is this how you imagined it to be?"
"No, it's even better with you by my side. I couldn't imagine this without you."
He smiled as we made our way back to the rental car. "The Dungeon and then to the hotel."
"Yes sir."
The ride to the bar was silent, but not uncomfortable. I fidgeted with my skirt a bit, but that was more so because I was a bit nervous. We had only been to the bar together a few times. None since we had become an official couple. I knew Emerson was a bit of a heavy drinker. Looking out the window and up at the bar I took a deep breath calming myself down. Just a couple of drinks then back to the hotel I reminded myself with a nod as I climbed out taking his hand. His confidence in the way he walked and talked was absolutely beautiful. "Two shots of whiskey neat. One of whatever beer you serve and a fruit cocktail please."
The bartender nods getting our drinks ready for us. "Will that be on a tab?" The older woman asked Emerson.
"Yes, please."
I sighed to myself. I didn't want to start a tab. We didn't plan to be here long, but he was paying so I wouldn't argue. The bartender handed Em our shots and we drank those first before we went to find a seat. "Beer is disgusting." I smiled rolling my eyes at my boyfriend.
"So are fruit cocktails, yet here we are." He shot back.
"Not fair." I laughed. "Vodka sucks and so does rum."
"Don't tell Seb that."
"He knows I hate rum. We fought about it before. The only things I can drink are these fruity little things and whiskey."
"LAME."
"You'll think lame when you're begging for me later."
I looked around absorbing the vampire vibes this place gave off as Sabbath Bloody Sabbath by Black Sabbath played in the background. Remington would love this place. A couple of people danced around and smoke filled up the air as a few people puffed on cigarettes.
The night went on and Emerson was at least ten drinks in when he went to get more. I had tried to reason with him asking to go back to the room, but he was having fun and I didn't want to argue. So I sunk into my seat sighing. I had stopped after my second cocktail. Humming along to War Pigs I began picking at the fries left on my plate. I wasn't starving but Em had insisted on getting the ridiculous priced bar food. "It's part of the experience." He argued and I shook my head giving in. I looked up at him as he stood at the bar waiting for his drinks before looking down at my phone as I shot Sebastian a text asking for ways to get his brother out of the bar.
