Chapter 5 - The Tiring Quest for Items

Finally finished Chapter 5, hope you enjoy how off rail this chapter gets. Definitely shows a bit more of the characters relationships, and also gives a bit of spotlight on Nikkie for a short bit. Anyways, enjoy Chapter 5, guys!

-Elijah's POV-

Y'know, I think I know why they were paying so much for a simple fetch quest. It's a pain in the ass to actually find these items, because as it turns out, they're categorized as legendary medicinal herbs, which means, in game terms, they're S-Rank materials! Which, if you didn't know, is really high! So, let me help you understand the material rankings of Elysium Realms. At the bottom, there's D-Rank materials, which are items that you can find everywhere and anywhere, C-Rank materials, which are a little harder to find, but still pretty common, B-Rank materials are rare, only found in any Dungeon, with the exception of Limited-Time Events, A-Rank materials, only found in Dungeon's with a mini boss, and then S-Rank and SS-Rank, only found in specific locations, like a forest, where you also have to get lucky for them to spawn in, and let's not get started on SSS-Rank materials...

"Hey, Elijah, you're zoning out again."

I finally snap back to my senses, as I look down at Victor, who's holding a few of those herbs that we need.

"Right, my bad, Vic." I apologize, as I look away, scratching the side of my chin.

"Don't worry, it's just we need you to get our stuff, y'know?"

"Right, because I reassigned my Magic stat to my Luck."

In case you're wondering, after I told them my Luck stat was an S, they dumped the splitting up idea and just stuck next to me. I soon see Nikkie, who was in front of me and Vic, turn around and lean towards me, grinning widely.

"That was a pretty bad idea. Using magic is a whole load of fun!"

I sigh to myself, as I cross my arms "If I'd known we were going to get sucked into a video game, I wouldn't have put my Magic at an F for the early game!"

"Oh, right! Early game! EJ, if you get enough exp and get to level 30, you can rank up your Magic stat."

I flick Victor with my finger, as I see him scratch where I flicked him "But how do you suppose we get to such a high level that requires more exp than the monsters can give?"

I see Victor chuckle softly, as he looks away, embarrassed and stuttering "Well... I-I... Umm... Well, you could... Mmm..."

I shake my head, as I continue walking forwards, as Victor continues to ponder to himself, clearly thinking harder than he needs to be thinking. Nikkie on the other hand, seems to be grabbing any and all berries, herbs, and random plants, of any material ranking.

"Nikkie, what're you doing?" I ask, as I walk over towards her, standing next to her side.

"I'm collecting things, for food, medicines since I'm a Cleric, and some items to sell."

"Y'know, despite being a newbie, you seem to have a pretty good understanding about this kinda stuff."

"Well, it's just my natural intuition, y'know?" Nikkie replies smugly, grinning widely.

Victor tugs on the hem of Nikkie's white robe, as he looks up at her "I vaguely recall that that's the stuff I taught you, right?"

"Well, yeah, but..."

"So, you're just doing what he told you."

I see her turn a bit pink, as she pouts "You make it seem like I can't make any decisions for myself!"
