Alex struggles with their non-binary identity and wants to feel like themself. Jack is there for them. DATE!!
//3rd POV//
Alex sighs, looking into the mirror, their sad eyes staring back. No matter how hard they try, they can't see themself as anything other than a male sometimes. There's nothing wrong with being a man of course, but that wasn't who Alex was. They're non-binary, that's what makes them feel home in their skin. Unfortunately though, their body doesn't change as soon as the comfort of home sets in. It can't, it costs money to change it, to just be themself. They couldn't change the world even with all the power the world could give them. So they just had to accept their body would never change, and not see how masculine it truly looked.
But pronouns were a start. At least they had those...
Alex removed their clothes from their body, tracing their hands over skin delicately, wishing they could change just a few small details. Even just with a thinner waist they would be much happier. They'd even be happier getting misgendered as a woman instead of how often he gets called a man. Of course after a while that would upset them too. They weren't a woman or a man, they were just human. A person. Themself.
Alex smiled.
Themself.
That's all they wanted to be.
They were out of the closet at home and at school, many people did accept them for them. Some people didn't, Alex knew that, but they didn't interact with the people that didn't. The people there weren't complete monsters, so they just stayed away too. Alex was safe at school, times are better now. It was just the strangers everywhere else. It was their own mind too. It could be so mean.
Alex shouldn't be so hard on themselves, they knew that, but they couldn't help it. Self love can be the hardest form of love, it's just so easy to put yourself down and compare yourself to others.
Their phone buzzed, pulling them out of their thoughts. They got redressed in a black tank top and basketball shorts, avoiding the mirror now. They grabbed their phone to check who the text was from.
Alex smiled.
His boyfriend, Jack.
Mi Amor: Hey, lovely <3 I'm on my way, I have something for you!
Sunshine: I'll unlock the door for you!
Sunshine: I'm excited.Jack never texts back when he's driving, so after Alex unlocked their front door, they just waited in their room playing a game on their phone. At the moment, they were mesmerized with Pocket Frogs. The frogs had all different colors and designs, plus you could eat dragonflies with them. 10/10.
When the knock on their door came, Alex's face instantly lit up with a huge smile. Running to the front door, their smile only got brighter when it opened to find Jack smiling right back.
"Hey, Sunshine."
"Baby!" Alex laughed and embraced Jack in a tight hug, their arms around the back of his neck. They nuzzled their face beneath Jack's chin and jawline, getting as close to the boy as they could, inhaling his home-y sent.
"I missed you so much, Lex." Jack whispered, slowly rubbing Alex's back in a comforting manner. They were currently on summer break and it's the middle of July, so Jack has been working in order to make money for Alex. They both had good parents, but with significant others they had to both pay for each other with their own money. Jack was not going to let Alex be without dates. So many dates.
"I missed you so much. Come cuddle in bed with me, and I need kisses." Alex giggled, half pulling away to smile up at their lover.
Jack returned a small laugh, "I know you do, lovely." He leaned his head down and gave Alex a soft kiss on their lips. "I'm yours to do with as you wish."
