Chapter 20: Reunion
A loud explosion rings out from the distance, pulling our attention towards it. "It came from the camp." Finn says.
"We're too late." Clarke mutters as she takes off towards camp, us following behind.
We run through the forest towards camp as fast as our fatigued bodies will let us. As we approach the gate, we can hear shouting from inside. "Wait! Hold your fire! It's Clarke, Y/n, and Finn! Open the gate!"
We jog inside the camp, the eyes of the 100 all upon us. I feel two arms wrap around me and I look to see a familiar face. "Are you ok?" Octavia asks me. I just smile and nod.
Bellamy runs up to meet Clarke, his face sweaty and a slight bruise forming around his neck. "Hey, we heard an explosion. What happened?" Clarke asks Bellamy.
"Murphy happened." Bellamy responds. He doesn't look my way; he doesn't even acknowledge me.
Jasper runs up and wraps his arms around me. "Thank god." He sighs in relief. "Where have you been? Where's Monty?" He pulls back to look at me.
"Monty's gone?" Clarke asks from behind me.
Finn steps forward. "Clarke, we need to leave, now." He raises his voice so that the camp can hear. "All of us do. There's an army of grounders, unlike anything we've ever seen, coming for us right now. We need to pack what we can and run."
"Like hell we do. We knew this was coming." Bellamy argues.
Octavia steps forward. "Bell, we're not prepared."
"And they're not here yet. We still have time to get ready!" Bellamy shouts to the crowd of teens around us. "Besides, where would we go? Where would we be safer than behind these walls?"
"There's an ocean to the east." Finn says. "People there will help us."
Octavia turns to look at me. "You saw Lincoln?" Octavia asks.
I nod.
"You expect us to trust a grounder?" Bellamy points to me. "To trust you?" Bellamy turns to the crowd and raises his voice. "This is our home now. We built this from nothing with our bare hands! Our dead are buried behind that wall, in this ground! Our ground! The grounders think they can take that away. They think that because we came from the sky, we don't belong here. But they're yet to realize one very important fact: We are on the ground now, and that means we are grounders!"
The teens shout in agreement, Bellamy's words have struck them with confidence. "Grounders with guns!" One delinquent shouts. The rest cheer more at his remark.
"Damn right!" Bellamy shouts in response. "I say let them come!" He turns to Clarke
"Bellamy's right." Clarke speaks. "If we leave, we may never find a place as safe as this. And God knows, in this world, we could be faced with something even worse tomorrow. But that doesn't change the simple fact that if we stay here, we will die tonight. So, pack your things. Just take what you can carry. Now!" The crowd disperses with chatter, following Clarke's orders.
Octavia grabs my arm. "Where is he?"
"He saved us-" I open my mouth to speak, but only harsh rasps escape my lips. The reaper's grip left my throat raw and sore.
Octavia lifts a gentle hand to my neck. "Oh my god, y/n. What happened to you?" Her eyes are soft and full of concern.
"Help me!" Raven's voice rings out from the side of the dropship.
Bellamy, Finn, and Clarke take off towards her. Raven's shirt is soaked with blood, and they rush her to the drop ship.
"You should go too." Octavia says. "Have Clarke look at your throat."
