Han had never expected the music industry to come with so much pressure. All of his songwriting to do, choreography to go over, and albums to record gave him barely any time to breathe, but his friends didn't help and only added to it by pressuring him to date someone.
"You're going to be single forever if you don't start dating, Han," his best friend, Changbin, teased one day as they sat in a café. Han rolled his eyes playfully.
"I'm focused on Stray Kids only," he said, trying to steer the conversation away from his love life.
Hyunjin sighed dramatically. "You're going to turn into Chan if you keep working so hard!" Changbin laughed at Hyunjin's comment, agreeing. Han just gave a sarcastic response and continued eating the cheesecake he got from the café.
A week later, They were all hanging out at the shared apartment. "So, Han," Felix began casually as they stood by the kitchen counter. "Has everyone else been pressuring you to date too?" Felix said as he looked at Han with a curious smile.
"Oh, so it's not just me? At least I'm not alone!" Han said as he rolled his eyes. Felix laughed, "You know if you're tired of the whole 'you should date someone' thing, I've got a plan." Han raised an eyebrow, curious taking over him. "What kind of plan?"
Felix leaned in closer, whispering in Han's ear. "We fake date. You know, just to get everyone off our backs. We pretend to be a couple for a while, and when they finally shut up about it, we break up!" Felix said smiling at Han.
Han considered the proposal but had second thoughts about it, not knowing if it was going to work, but he felt that he might as well try.
"Okay," he agreed, surprising himself with how quickly he accepted. "Let's do it."
When they returned to where their friends were, Han could feel the weight of their friend's eyes on them as they walked in, but he kept his expression neutral. Felix, on the other hand, was grinning from ear to ear.
"Hi guys, what's the plan for tonight?" Felix said with his arm casually slung around Han's shoulders. Han stiffened at the contact but didn't pull away. He had to play along.
Hyunjin's eyes widened as he took in the sight before him. "Wait, what's this?" Han cleared his throat, trying to find the right words. Felix beat him to it.
"We're dating," Felix announced as if it were the most natural thing in the world. "Started last night."
The reactions were over the top. Their friends erupted into a mixture of shock and excitement, with some teasing remarks thrown in by Seungmin. Han tried to play his part, nodding and smiling as if it was all perfectly normal.
For the next few weeks, Han and Felix continued their "relationship". They sat together whenever they went out with the group to eat, shared inside jokes, and even held hands occasionally, something that made Han's heart race in ways he didn't quite understand.
Felix was good at this, too good. Han kept having to remind himself it was all fake. Noting was real.
Except, something strange started happening. The more time Han spent with Felix, the more he found himself looking forward to their "dates." He enjoyed Felix's company,
He always knew how to make Han feel better. It was confusing Han, he didn't know what he was feeling anymore. He just knew he wanted to be by Felix's side twenty-four-seven.
One evening, as they sat in Han's apartment, to watch a movie, Felix turned to him with a grin. "So, how's the relationship going for you?"
Han's heart skipped a beat. He forced himself to smile. "It's working. Changbin and Hyunjin haven't mentioned anything in weeks."
Felix chuckled. "Same here!." He paused, his expression turning serious. "But, you know, it doesn't have to be fake...I mean, what if we stopped pretending? What if we made this real?"
The words hung in the air between them, heavy with meaning. Han didn't know what to say. This had to have been a sick joke, but he realized just how much he wanted it not to be.
"I... I don't know," Han admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm not sure what I'm feeling."
Felix nodded, his gaze softening. "That's okay. We don't have to rush into anything. But just... think about it. We've been spending all this time together, and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I'd like to keep spending time with you, for real."
Han's mind was spinning. He couldn't deny that he'd grown attached to Felix, that he cared about him more than he'd expected. But was this real? Or was it just a product of their fake relationship?
They sat in silence for a while, the movie forgotten in the background. Finally, Han spoke, his voice trembling slightly. "What if I mess it up?"
Felix smiled, reaching out to take Han's hand in his. "Then we'll figure it out together. No pressure, no expectations. Just us."
And just like that, the decision was made. Han felt a warmth spread through him, a sense of calm he hadn't felt in a long time. He squeezed Felix's hand, a silent agreement.
"Okay," he whispered. "Let's give this a try."
The next few weeks were both exhilarating and terrifying. Han and Felix slowly transitioned from their fake relationship to something real.
There were moments when Han would catch Felix's eye across the room and feel his heart skip a beat when Felix would brush his hand against Han's and send a shiver down his spine.
Their friends noticed the change too, though they didn't say anything. Han suspected that Hyunjin, at least, had figured out that their "relationship" had started fake, but he never brought it up. Instead, he seemed genuinely happy for them, and that made Han feel better about everything.
One day, as they sat in the café with their friends, Felix leaned over and whispered in Han's ear. "You know, I've been thinking."
Han turned to him, curious. "About what?"
Felix grinned, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "About how this all started. Us pretending to date, just to get everyone off your back. It's kind of funny, isn't it? How does something fake turn into something real?"
Han smiled, a warmth spreading through him at Felix's words. "Yeah, it is."
Felix's grin softened into something more genuine, more tender. "I'm glad we did it. Even if it was just a crazy idea at first. Because now... now I get to be with you, for real."
Han's heart swelled with emotion. He hadn't expected any of this hadn't expected to fall for Felix, hadn't expected to find someone who made him feel so alive, so understood. But now that he had, he couldn't imagine his life without Felix in it.
"I'm glad too," Han said softly, leaning in to kiss Felix on the cheek. It was a small, simple gesture, but it held so much meaning.
They didn't need to pretend anymore.
Han and Felix's relationship only grew stronger. They learned more about each other, their quirks, their habits, their fears. They argued sometimes, as all couples do, but they always worked through it and always came out stronger on the other side.
Han found himself thinking about the future, something he'd rarely done before. He wondered where they would go after Stray Kids, what their lives would look like. But he wasn't worried. Because no matter what happened, he knew one thing for sure.
Felix would be there with him, every step of the way.
And that was enough.
