Even after their grueling family differences; Astrea realized before her high school era ends- she wanted to help Kyouya break free from his father. Perhaps becoming the future CEO shouldn't be a priority- not when Kyouya has powerful and influential friends in the Host Club.

After the usual training in the dojo, Astrea realized Kyouya was watching her breaking deadly moves with the instructor. He seemed alone and distraught, a part of her wanted to tell him off to go home at once.

But she didn't.

After all she told his bodyguard to let him come. Although, only Kyouya was there without his father.

As soon as the session was finished, the instructor went home; so did the others. Kyouya stood up, walking towards her swiftly just to have a word with her. His cold exterior faded as soon as her eyes met his.

"You're not supposed to be here-"

He shuts her up with a kiss. Astrea dropped her headgear in astonishment. Kyouya had both of his hands holding her face, his slightly cold lips met hers, rendering her breathless. And when he ended the kiss, Astrea looked into his eyes and ventured into his thoughts.

"Kyouya."

His enchanting grey eyes harboured a deep sadness. He slowly touched her hair- caressed it to the end.

"I don't feel good. I lied to my father about you."

Astrea's eyes widened.

"What did you tell him?"

"That I... " He almost choked on his words.

It was difficult.

Kyouya isn't the type of person to open up. No, especially not his feelings. Never.

"That I didn't love you."

So it has come to this.

Yet again. She thought; solemn.

"You..."

Kyouya stood in front of her, vulnerable. The son of the prestigious Ootori group. Vulnerable. It's as if he had laid down his weapons, while she kept a firm grip on hers.

As she was under the impression that they were about to have a duel, to have a go at it. Why not, right? Unfortunately things didn't go as planned.

Astrea was not one to pick on somebody who's not in the same mental state.

Something in her mind clicked, hence she took his hand and brought him somewhere else.

"So, how many minutes do we have? An Ootori must not slack off." Astrea spoke sarcastically, undressing her top in one of the empty and unused office in school.

"I have Tachibana and the rest to cover up for me. Nothing to worry about." Kyouya threw his vest away and undid his tie. He didn't care about any formality- nor his cold front.

"You do know that we were supposed to fight at the dojo with your father watching us, right?"

He held her pale and cold body in his embrace, his eyebrows frowning at the thought of the Ootori Group CEO.

"I have betrayed you on that. I've never asked my father to come to the dojo. In fact, I have decided." Kyouya removed his glasses.

"This will be our last secret meeting up until graduation."

Astrea crossed her arms and smirked. Her amethyst eyes seemed to glow in the dimly lit room, where there was just the two of them- partly undressed except for the pants.

"Well, I can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved." She spoke.

Kyouya smiled, albeit a little bit sad.

"This is our fight. Not against each other, but against our lives- alone."

The two didn't speak for a few seconds. The consequences of them deciding that this was the last meeting, made their futures clear with one another. It was never going to come to light. His father didn't care to check the whereabouts of his youngest son.

In the end, they barely slept with each other in the empty and secluded room. They kissed and fondled each other, Kyouya wanted that moment to never end. Yet he knew good things never last.

He only hopes that she keeps his mental illness issue at bay and never tell a soul about it.

It's futile to resist fate.

You will be the CEO in the end, Kyouya.

It was nice while it lasted.

Epilogue

They became college students as promised rivals; or enemies for short. Both of their companies decided to make Kyouya and Astrea the respective CEOs in the future, regardless of the initial circumstances.

Both of them coincidentally decided on the same university abroad as it would be rather intriguing to watch each other's progress. They kept each other's promise, and he was going to be the successor compared to his brother.

Yet, as for love, Kyouya realized he couldn't manage any, at all.

He was afraid of his own weakness. The OCD made it harder to not overthink. He knew he is mentally unwell and only one girl understood the condition; leaving him to scribble on his notes until the ink of his pen dries out and his fingers hurt. His palms hurt.

After all it doesn't get better.

His high school past haunted him, the fact that the incident in Berlin happened that opened a can of worms. They were more than friends, less then lovers. He wasn't sure of her feelings towards him. Like how she wasn't sure that they were still friends or not.

Seeing Astrea socializing normally with her girl friends on campus made him wonder, will he ever be something significant in her life? Of course, not with force. The fact that there were rumours about Astrea was dating this one Russian girl named Yulia really made certain assumptions clear.

Yet during one fine day when Kyouya was scribbling in his journal alone as a coping mechanism; he saw a familiar girl sitting beside him, one with a long purple hair that greeted him with a calm smile.

"I have pens and an empty book to scribble on too. Just so you know."

Author's Note:

I have finally finished this short story, and it has been going as intended; like an indie movie (500 Days of Summer coded) with an open ending. Unfortunately what happened in Berlin between the two didn't mean that much to her.

Also the purple haired girl is definitely a character crossover from my other fic The Goddess Type where Kyouya does have a happy ending. Take it as an alternate universe crossover. You guys can check it out but bear in mind that the fic is old, back in 2017. It got reposted this year though bc of wattpad guidelines.

Thank you for reading loves <3
