"Come on, you know I –"
She whips her head from the vending machine and looks at me. Her narrowed eyes assess me from head to toe then up. I try not to squirm even if I feel like I was some kind of specimen being scrutinized by a scientist.
"I know you alright", she said. The smile she gives me never reaches her eyes.
"Uh, you do?" I scratch the back of my neck and smile sheepishly.
Woah. I thought she didn't care about the people around her. Half of the class hate her. The other half? They're scared of her. Why? I've asked around – I tried anyway, but no one wants to talk about it.
My lab partner's pretty, though. Long black hair, emerald eyes, and a perfectly-shaped mouth. Not like I'm into her or anything. It's just... There was this experiment when her eyes shone and the corner of her mouth curled into a smile.
"You're someone I can trust—"
"Really?"
"—as far as I can throw you." Then she shoves me out of her way to get to the farthest end of the canteen. "Talk to me again and you're dead."
Yep, she hates guys.
I leave, grinning.
